This topic is for exploring Anti-SpamBot protection puzzles.

The U.S. Hawks forum has been protected from automated ("spam") registrations by a few relatively obscure questions. Recently, however, those questions have been failing to protect the forum as well as they have in the past. This topic is for exploring alternatives.

Unfortunately, our Anti-SpamBot puzzles aren't holding up so well anymore. We have about 60 pages of members (click the "Members" button when you're logged in), and about half of them have been registered in the last month or so. The names make it obvious that they are not real people. I suspect that one of two things has happened:

1. It's possible that someone in the SpamBot business has figured out the answers to our "somewhat obscure" questions and has distributed them as part of a list for breaking into sites.

2. With advancing AI, it's possible that the answers to our "somewhat obscure" questions can be gained by feeding the question into an AI system like ChatGPT and it will produce the right answer.

Either way, I apologize that I haven't been able to go through the hundreds of new registrations to figure out who is real and who is not.
