Such product might a play in Safe-Splat systems.
Perhaps on the Safe-Splat HG frames dedicated for use on landing downhill on urban streets or rural roads.
The product seems to build a shell using the core first materials as support.

Kite-system damping HG or PG landings may be done in many ways. (Similarly, drones, powered aircraft, sailplanes may utilize a kite system for Safe-Splat operations.)

Here just one method with some sub-variations is mentioned now:

Have kite system flying. HG or PG flies to integrate itself with the kite system.
Choose next steps:
1. Consider designing total system so that HG or PG pilot may control the total integrated system to be slowly downed.
2. Consider HG or PG pilot climbing out of their wing and zip-lining down the kite-system tether to the system's anchor set.
3. Consider after integration a use of a pulley at integration point to let down vertically the pilot; then control kite system to let down the HG or PG wing. Let down into a very small LZ.
4. Following the integration with the kite system, let the HG or PG pilot take an aloft nap. After the nap release from the integrated system and drop into gliding and soaring flight again; such cycles could be repeat. Various multiple HG or PG pilots could use the same main kite system for naps or lowerings.

Notice: Lowering the pilots could be rigged to produce electricity; the mass of the integrated HG or pilot will have upon aloft integration some potential energy; that potential energy could drive an electric generator or other good-works device.

The movable support seems on its way to teaching something for Safe-Splat HG systems.

In 1908, Butler Ames taught rotatable airfoil with axis of rotation traverse to the wind.
U.S. Congressman Butler Ames of Lowell, Massachusetts.

He taught formally in 1908, at least, about converting the wind's energy by use of variously shaped airfoils (including variously curved shapes) that flipped leading lead over or under to trailing edge, that is continuously from angle of attack from 0 degrees to 180 degrees, only to continue such motion to give effort perpendicular to axis of rotation as well as perpendicular to the wind. Flip, flip, flip, flip, ... He taught carrying loads with the resultant lift. He thus preceded zero-gap S-rotors of Savonius. The Ames rotatable airfoils would continuous flip or rotate or tumble. He rehearsed many applications for his rotatable airfoils: aircraft, kites, load handling, lifting cars, pushing down, lifting up. Today we generally see his rotatable airfoils operated as drag-based machines. He did not teach central gap in his airfoils, apparently, as did the later Savonius (circa 1920s). It is yet to be determined if the later Savonius ever gave nod to Ames.

I know my quick note was unclear. I will get clearer and provide some elementary drawings. Aim, though, is to get some builds going. Photos. Video of trials, etc.

When I get drawings and made version photos of Joy Frame
then I will share them with you. As the matter progresses, I am privileged
to be reminded of you by the naming.

Basically, I have been making progress in making a framework that an old fart could hold onto while running very fast all out while carrying a wing and then stumble in the sprint and not get hurt ... thus "Safe-Splat" .... falling while running with a wing without getting hurt .. Well, a Joy Frame is to be the core structure that will keep the stumbler from getting hurt; but more, and more positively: Since one injury can keep a wing runner from exercising for weeks, months, years, then it is paramount for a regular wing runner who wants to run wings very much, to have a Safe-Splat structure, say an effective Joy Frame for the inevitable stumble. More: A wing runner who wants to run full sprint many times a day and many times a week ... should have an effective Joy Frame, else the inevitable stumble will stop the healthy wing running program.
More, when an effective Joy Frame is proved satisfactory, then new people of any age could be encouraged to run a wing at full sprint. When such technology is available, then such might provide a fun joyful exercise to many many people. And such could be a neat entry to hang gliding. But wing running has some special things for itself.
Early aviation had many wing runners, but they would stumble and crash and be discouraged too easily.

Great post Joe!!!

For this type of Joyful wing running, it seems to me that a large pair of wheels would be most effective and most resilient for both the device and the terrain (grass parks, for example).

As you may guess, I've got my hands full dealing with the Restraining Order filed by Robin Marien, so I don't really have time to work on it now. But after reading your letter, I am more convinced now than ever that such a device might be workable. Let's set that as a resolution for the new year in 2015. Did you notice the "5" in that year?    ;)

It is key to have the WR tethered; the tethering will permit transfer of landing loads to frame and permit a harness-spreading of forces over the WR's body as skis impact the ground.

Notice how Joy Frame with ski will face many ground textures: wet, dry, gravel, soft grasses, small rocky, bog, etc. Wheels could be combined with ski. Ablative brake may be combined. Special paved downhill street landings is one of my local targets; the ablative braking integrated in the ski will be interesting. One option instructed in my published notes is a very wide roller; such roller could of a structure that is hidden in soaring flight, but brought out upon landing effort.
Aim for Joy Frame: all-out energetic sprints with wing .... over and over again nearly daily over weeks, months, and years, despite inevitable stumbles. Have 1000 students also so wing run without holding back on the energy! No more hesitancy in the wing runs. Wing run safely in calms. Wing run on paved streets or firebreaks. Do flight hops. Do ground-effect gliding. Urban gliding. City-park and city-street wing running when planned for safe global operations. Schools: Wing running is coming to your physical-education classes!
