At the risk of another story about the same guy (again, remaining nameless). I didn't witness this incident, but heard about it from a couple of flying mates who were there.
Nameless Guy was competing in a competition, when he decided that he needed to out-lift the other pilots. He'd heard that more camber improves lift, so in front of everybody on launch, as he was setting up his glider, he made the desired camber adjustment by grabbing all of his battens in a single handful and BENDING THEM OVER HIS KNEE!
I s'pose this is getting off the topic of hang straps, so maybe we should start another thread called "Hoary Old-Fart Shock Stories From Back-In-The-Day"! I'm sure everyone has a bunch of them.
