So, now that we have lived most of our lives, we should learn to loop. :P

Increasingly (as we get older) we have less to lose!

But old age does have an advantage. I was looking into fatality stats once (as you do), for hang gliding as well as other sports. A bit of a macabre topic, but here's the good news for the old fart brigade. At 65 (like me), your chance of dying from any cause in one year is about 1 in 80. Your chance of being killed hang gliding in one year is about 1 in 1,000 (from all of the best evidence). So you're 12 times more likely to drop dead from some other cause than a hang glider crash, so why worry about hang gliding?

In other words, start looping! ;)

If there are no objections, I'd like to move these posts to the "Hello US Hawks" topic since they are introductory in nature. Please let me know if anyone objects!!!

Merge from "new members" to "Hello US Hawks!!"

Postby Bob Kuczewski » Sun Dec 14, 2014 12:00 pm

Thanks. I just finished the merge, so the posts that were titled "new members" or "Re: new members" have been merged from the Free Speech forum into this "Hello US Hawks!!" topic.

This is probably my favorite topic on the entire forum because it has become a running history of so many pilots who's joined us in these past 4 years. Thanks to everyone who's made this topic what it is!!!

Thx Bob K for the add.

New member here. I'm Greg Clark from here in ABQ. I'm a P4 pilot and do some PPG too. I joined so I can better follow the RGSA, but it looks like I can follow a lot more so that's even better. If anybody is traveling through the ABQ area hit me up. The Sandia launches are close by. I'm not a guide for The Mountain (if you need one) but there's always one close by. Don't mind driving/retrieving with a little notice.
I'm planning on hitting The Guads for Presidents Day W/E. And they always put on an outstanding Fly In at Dry Canyon Memorial Day W/E. If you haven't flown Dry put it on your list.

Hi Greg C.,
Bill C. here. Flying these last few days south of you hasn't been all the hot but warmer than you have been seeing up there in the high country where you are. I'll see if I still remember how to set up a link to Robin's latest flying report at Dry Canyon ---- :? :? ---well here goes nothing-----
\http://ushawks.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1424=140#p9702
Edit: foiled again ---- :? :? let's try something else---
http://ushawks.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1424#p9702

darn it that didn't work either you will have to go there then go to the bottom of page 15
Sorry about that but at least I didn't have to give up and say, "You can't get there from here."

Edit again trying to zero in on this linking stuff. (stuff is a highly technical programmers lingo.)
Let's see if this will take you to page 15 at the bottom----(Please Lord) --- :? :?:

Nope. I got nothing going here.----good luck
