No need to smear. Hopefully, if the facts/actions are brought to light........... This is what US Hawks is all about.

There's something very suspicious about how the City Council is handling the Torrey Pines Gliderport. It would be a perfect fit for Sherri Lightner to support an Advisory Board representing user groups at that site. But she won't touch it with a 10 foot pole. She won't even meet with members of our club.

In fact the only person who had been willing to meet with us was Mayor Filner. And just when he was about to take action (promised by early July), this scandal blew up. Coincidence?

For a long time, I've had the suspicion that there's an unseen hand at play regarding the Gliderport. Some say it's drug dealers or organized crime. Some say it's DEA or Homeland Security. Some say it's powerful people who live on the cliff. Some say it was Jebb's connection with the police force and the former Police Chief / former Mayor Sanders. It's hard for me to tell what it is, but it's clear that something is keeping the San Diego City Council members from doing what should be a very natural thing ... establishing an Advisory Board of experts and user groups to advise the City on the operation of a flight park where the City has no expertise.

All of Sherri Lightner's history would indicate that she'd be the first person to step up for such an Advisory Board, but she sits stone-faced on the Council week after week ... and does nothing.

Very good presentation Bob,
It is a sorry thing to see all the aggravation you and other people have to deal with when the public servants are turning out such a poor work product.

Bob are you able to easily check with other S.D. City Parks to see if there also is a sweetheart deal going on at those locations?
It might be helpful if you could speak with other park advisory board members to see if they also are exasperated with not being able to set things right at their park locations. You may run across other tax payers that are also tired of being stepped on and finding no relief.
If the squeaky wheel gets the grease and you can reveal that the whole machine is squeaking as well things should happen faster. It might be worth a look.

EDIT: By the way that was a good verbal spanking that you gave the City Councilors.

I really believe there's some form of corruption at play here. Something just doesn't smell right when it's so easy for politicians to create a no-cost Advisory Board to advise the City on the park. Whenever politicians aren't doing something that obvious, then there's "more than meets the eye."

There might be similar situations at other parks. But if I can't crack Torrey (where I've been watching carefully for 7 years), it will be very hard for me to find out what's going on in other parks.

That's such a good quote that you might find me repeating it in an upcoming City Council speech.

The City Council only gives you 3 minutes to make your speech. So I'm often up until the wee hours of the morning with a stop-watch timing myself over and over and over to be sure I can get it all said ... in 3 minutes!!
