Your "attention to detail" about your choice of equipment, set up, pre flight, wind conditions, and mental 'pictures', is where your confidence is. "Younger" pilots may have done these things 'quicker', but their confidence comes from good training given by you and many others, and when they step off, they are also fully committed. My dad taught me these concepts at an early age, and they all hold true in everyday life. Aviate, navigate , communicate.
