I just sent Harry a message describing the Blog forum and welcoming him to start his own gallery there.

Harry welcome! I'm looking right now at the original of your great Dockweiler Beach Hang Gliding water color poster from 9/9/2000. On the wall of my room it always gives me pleasure to see it. I recently got back to flying at Dockweiler (at age 80) so it has even more relevance now. All of those signatures on the poster are priceless now!

Check out our new organization under US Hawks. We are the Friends of Dockweiler Gliding Society (FDGS) and would welcome you as a member, if Joe hasn't already added your name.

Frank,
80? I feel like a kid now. I just turned 60 and ramping my flying back up.
My kids are grown up now so I'm starting to get more free time. Trying to figure out where to steer my cartoon business as I head into my golden years.
I have a digital copy of that painting I did so many years ago. Maybe I should put it on t-shirts and sell them. Sure, I'd like to be a friend of FDGS.

Oh, to be 60 again! Ramping my flying up is exactly what I'm doing now also, but I'd sure rather be 60 than 80. :) I'm waiting delivery of a new Wills Alpha 210 and I'm messing around with a new Blue Sky harness I bought through Wills Wing. The harness will hold me in a more vertical position, instead of prone, for those short Dockweiler glides

Harry, I think that painting on T-shirts would be fantastic. Maybe we could peddle some through the FDGS or buy some to give out as awards, etc., etc. It certainly represents Dockweiler Hang Gliding. I would proudly wear one any time I fly at Dockweiler.

Every time we have had an historical marker meet or vintage HG meet I bring your painting out to display.

Joe Greblo proudly displays that poster, and I've seen it hundreds of times during my training and subsequent visits to Windsports. It's an honor to finally communicate with the with the artist behind that artwork.

Frank, please sign me up for an Extra Large, and I hope you'll include the FDGS logo as well!!!

Hello William, and ...

        Welcome to the US Hawks!!!!

If you don't mind, I generally try to consolidate all of the "Hello Everyone" introductions into the "Hello US Hawks" topic so we can find them all in one place. So if I don't hear any objection, I'll move these two posts into that topic.

Once again ... Welcome to the US Hawks!!

Brand New Hanglider

Postby Coliente » Sun Nov 15, 2015 2:16 pm

Hey All,

Just wanted to introduce myself! I'm Colin, and I am brand new to the world of hang gliding. I met Bob K at the Science Museum here in San Diego, and he helped me realize how much I would love hang gliding! I had my first great lesson last week at Dockweiler Beach just last weekend! As an airplane enthusiast who has wanted to fly all my life (and am currently in the Air Force), I'm partially upset that I only just considered getting into hang gliding as a serious hobby! And I'm only 26! I look forward to getting certified to solo as soon as safely and financially possible, and look forward to getting to know the rest of the community!
