I can't catch that left handed pilot!

Postby Bill Cummings » Wed Nov 14, 2012 3:50 pm

The link is a video narrated by Alan Alda and is around 10 minutes long.
A fellow, Joe, had the connection between his left brain and right brain surgically separated to control seizures. Tests prove that at least his brain, left and right, have specialized functions.

Not having collected any vast amount of empirical data and crunching the numbers I still am leaning toward a belief that left handed pilots are better than me at working thermals and going farther cross country with their HG’s and/or PG’s.

Check out the link and offer up any thoughts on the topic.

I’m not interested in any politically correct input about us all being equal.

As a male pilot giving birth to a baby would be extremely difficult. We are not all the same. (Thank goodness).

Does our sport HG/PG have a higher percentage of left handed pilots than the public at large?

On Youtube I’ve seen pilots at the registration table signing in with their left hand. Coincidentally it seems to me that a lot of our top XC pilots are left handed.

Bill,

Probably because left-handed pilots are the only ones in their right minds! :srofl: I'm a left-sided person - living in a right-handed world.

(And this has nothing to do with politics! - I'm jus' sayin'...)

Maybe it was meant to be this way because left-handed people tend to adjust better - which might explain why they make better pilots?

I'm not a pilot, but I can certainly see the logic in that! :D
