This shows strong profile of Mike Riggs, founder-owner of Seagull Aircraft; he is at the left sitting with the stripped shirt; his left hand is supporting his chin; the photo caught him with his eyes closed. He was a trained aeronautical thinker and designer; his home at that time was in his sailboat harbored in the Marina Del Rey. He and I shared a lease of a commercial property in Santa Monica, CA, on 5th street that was owned by the very famous aero person Waldo Waterman (strong support of Self-Soar Association and Low & Slow in several ways including an early gift check of $100. just for support). Mike was lead builder for a Waterman replica in concert with Waldo: a biplane hang glider which we all flew eventually upon completion while Waldo watched and flew vicariously (his was in circa 1910).

JOE thanks for the "id" ....
It has been a very long time since I have shaken hands with Mike R.
Although he has sent the odd email lately ...
His leadership in the early days is significant -
Like Eipper he also shared that "vision" of a popular HG Sport among the general public.
We hope to continue more In Depth Profiles of our early legendary members...
I had glanced at his face but since 40 years have floated under the bridge...
many of the faces are vague & unidentifiable by me now.

Wow! I forgot I once had a head of hair and it was brown and a brown beard too! My how time flies when we're having fun.

Thanks Neil, for these great photos of a wonderful time in our lives.

BTW - It's good to be under a wing again, at Dockweiler Beach.

Neil, What a fantastic historical resource! Thanks for putting it here.

PS - (I hope the morons on Paragliding Forum don't find this.
Way too much information for their tiny, inbred brains.)
