Light wind launch practice at Dockweiler Beach

Postby Frank Colver » Wed Feb 22, 2017 11:52 am

Also posted on the Dockweiler Friends page.

I needed practice in very light wind to keep my "landing gear" down and keep running after the glider lifts. I have a tendency to retract the gear too soon so this was a good time to convince my 82 year old (next month) brain to not do that. It worked, see video!

That's awesome... you made it look easy...

I agree choppergirl --- That's awesome.
Frank is my inspiration to not retire from the sport of hang gliding at the early age of 68. (Frank is 82 this month.)
I keep urging myself out of bed each morning with the mantra, "If Frank can do it at 82 what hell is up with you?" (me).
As I slog through my morning stretching I picture Frank doing back handspring somersaults while mentally reviewing his preflight
check list. Then jogging around the block four times before his breakfast of Wheaties.
With any luck Frank will not disabuse me of this mental picture.
