Bob, didn't like pictures on his 'jailed for taking pictures' thread and asked me to post elsewhere.
Happy New Year, more later.

Thanks Warren!!!

The Blog forum would be a fine place to post your thoughts on hang gliding. I don't even mind one non-hang gliding topic (per person) here, but please try to keep it to that. If it becomes a zoo of non-hang gliding topics, I may want to discuss moving some of them to the free speech zone.

Also, please let me know if you'd like to change the topic title of your Blog to reflect a more general discussion than "Soldiers Guarding Poppies Not Rosa Parks". We can leave it as is, or I'll be happy to change it to something more generic for you. You can still name each post with its own title, but the title of the entire topic comes from the title of the first post.

Thanks for your ongoing participation in the US Hawks!!

That YouTube link is powerful! How is it that police in the US (or Texas) think they are Gods? Not good.

The video was too long for most but in the end the police backed down. Those people took a dangerous and unpopular stand to make their point on First and Second Amendment rights. There appears to be somewhat of a 'movement' that I wasn't aware of, taking place.
Brave or crazy? I don't know.

The title is fine, Bob. Thanks for the offer though.
You should know that the government protects the flow of heroin with the military before you solidify your convictions in the 'drug wars' is all I'm saying. The government ships it in and then uses it to enhance their for profit prison system. Are you regularly checking your vehicle to see if there may be any planted bag from the government drug dealers you are in dispute with?

US Hawks Court of Pilot Opinion

Great idea Bob and Wingspan!

US Hawks Court of Pilot Opinion (USHCPO)

But details would need to be worked out. As in, from where do we get our guinea pigs? :eh:

We could reach into the "dustbin of history" to pull up interesting cases.

For example, we could investigate the various bannings from various sites (HGAA purge, HangGliding.org, Oz Forum, KiteStrings...). We could pick a case, look into the facts, and render a decision. The only danger with those cases is that they may cut "close to the bone" for some of our members (myself included) and that may introduce a bias. On the other hand, all cases have some amount of bias, so maybe that's part of what needs to be tested.

We could also review some of USHPA's decisions. There have been a number of pilots who've had their instructor's ratings removed or even their membership itself. We could review those cases. We could even make up a case - either from scratch or loosely based on something we've seen.

Let's put the demise of Airsports LLC under the microscope and find out what really happened there. What really caused the failure of the 'Great Hang Gliding Hope of the Midwest' ? (GHGHM)

I lost personally in the deal so that would make me a plaintiff and surely, not the only one.

As Jim (Blindrodie) Gaar, is a member here, is very convenient as Blindrodie was self appointed "Manager, Safety Marshall and Bookkeeper" to the LLC. .. also unofficial flight instructor... All with the ripe wisdom of a low time Hang 2.
What ever could go wrong in that scenario?

Who wants to help dig around in this "Dustbin of History" artifact?

Airsports LLC
GHGHM
Great Hang Gliding Hope of the Midwest

Checked several Bing searches and couldn't zero in on your referred to topic.
Should this GHGHM stay here on " Soldiers Guarding Poppies Not Rosa Parks?"
I haven't run across this GHGHM issue before.

Maybe Blindrodie will grace us with his presence in this discussion of his favorite subject,.. himself!
The great hope of the Midwest was to be the one and only 'Flight Park' for hundreds of miles in any direction.
Who wouldn't want that?

This discussion will delve into why it ended up a big failure.
This could take a while. Blindrodie should be here to tell his version of the story.
This is not the first time he has been asked to do so.

Yes, the title of this thread doesn't accurately describe this subject.
It can be changed as we get going. There doesn't have to be many people here to begin.
Someone can page Jim Gaar and let him know that a subject near and dear to his heart has been originated?

That sounds like a pretty thorny topic. It might not be the best one to start with. But when we get enough Board members together, you're welcome to propose it.

In anticipation of that, can you give us an outline of what happened and how you might like the US Hawks to help fix the situation? For the sake of the discussion - which is somewhat academic - you can assume that we have all the powers that USHPA has (can pull ratings, expel members, etc).

Thanks.

Also, please let me know if you'd like to be on the Trial Board of Directors that we're starting. Just post your interest to that topic.

Thanks again.

Free,
I think it was your advice that I took a few years back and quit getting flu shoots.
Memory is fuzzy but I think the last two winters I didn’t have flu shoots and for the first time in years didn’t get the flu.

I was told by a know it all that I should go gather prickly pear fruit in Aug. Sept., and squeeze the juice out and drink it to rid the flu virus from my body before my immune system got weak for some reason and allowed me to come down with the flu.

Each of the last two winters (I think) when I started drinking the juice it felt as though I was coming down with the flu. Tired, aching joints, chills, but the next day that was all over with. Just a juice glass each morning for about three weeks.
My neighbor says he hasn’t had a flu shot in the last ten years and hasn’t had the flu since he stopped getting shots. He believes in the cactus juice.
I’m starting to put my faith in it too.
