US Hawks Hang Gliding Association

I am recovering from the flu which seems to have some lingering bronchitis. That took me from "I want to fly" to "I just want to live".

It is not likely I'll make it this year unless my health rapidly improves.

Bummer. Hang in there, looks to be wet and windy next couple of days. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday look promising. I wonder what the local forecasters think.

Doth. I checked on RG site and Robin had already posted forecast.

Robin is extremely diligent in posting forecasts.

Time to head for the Ridge for Prez Days. A few of us from Austin are headed out. Perhaps we will be able to recruit a few more.

Any of you guys ever do any Gooning over at the Mescalero's?

I get the feeling the Mescalero Ridge has never been flown mainly because it is 4hrs from ELP/Cruces and there are so many other sites closer. Those RGSA guys don't know how good they have it.

Missed being able to hit the Guads. It always seems like there is wind, no wind, and flying when I've been. The key is having the time dedicated to some good hiking, great sunsets, good friends, and let the flying be the gift between it all.

I stayed in TX to celebrate my grandmother's 90th. Glad I did. By coincidence, my trusty TDI broke a rocker arm and is being repaired. Don't think my new ride is yet ready to be put into HG service.

Get on an airplane to LAX. You can walk to Dockweiler from there ... but I'll promise to pick you up anyway. Bring a harness and helmet.

Robin thought in might be do-able at Dry since things were looking blown out for the Guads.
He emailed me at 11:00am to say it was too windy.
I sat out both options (Guads, and Dry) because it looked like too much wind. Cold too but then again I'm 70 and becoming a wuss.

Bill - No one should have to endure a temperature less than that of their age.

I wish I could have made it this past weekend. I have learned the hard way that if hurrying before or after flying is part of the flight plan, then make another plan because the hurrying will suck the joy out of the day.
