Making "Gus" in Blender

Postby Bob Kuczewski » Sat Jan 10, 2015 11:56 pm

Here's an animation that I created from a tutorial earlier today:

He looks like one of Joe's happy wing runners ... who forgot his wing.    ;)

You can find the instructions for how to make this at:
    http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Your_First_Animation/1.A_static_Gingerbread_Man

The Gingerbread Man in the tutorial is named "Gus" so I also searched Google for "Blender Gus", and found these two videos. I haven't watched them, but they might be easier to follow than the instructions published on the web site:

This wasn't an easy tutorial to follow, but it produced a pretty neat result.    8-)

Very cool Rick!!!

For anyone who hasn't watched the video, it shows 3 variable resistors connected to an arduino processor that converts the resistances to values that are sent (via USB or Serial or Parallel?) to a computer running Blender. Blender uses those three values to control the pitch, roll, and yaw of a 3-D model wing.

Very Cool Rick!!

Back to Blender ... I tried playing around with the "Sapling" addon this evening to make a tree line:

I figure it will be handy for animating our training manual.
