These sports teams deal in "loyalty" ... like a prostitute deals in "love".

I suggest that the players who really want to play in San Diego (for the love of the sport) should quit the NFL and form their own local league. They can play for free at the now empty Qualcomm stadium and split the ticket proceeds with the City of San Diego.

They can start by splitting the team into two sides (like they do at practice) until they can grow the league enough to make multiple teams. They can attract lots of players from across the country that the NFL has dropped or passed over (who wouldn't move from Detroit to San Diego?). They might nick name it the SCFL which could stand for either "Southern California" or "Second Chance" Football League. The local media would surely cover it now that the NFL is gone.

They could even get creative and mix it up with some of the local college and even high school teams. That would probably get national coverage and create a lot of local spirit.

Those are the kinds of ideas that Mayor Faulconer should be considering rather than trying to kiss the Chargers owner's butt at the taxpayer's expense. This was typical San Diego politics ... screw the taxpayers to benefit the people with power and money (just like the Torrey Pines situation). It didn't work because the taxpayers were fed up and rejected the propositions at the ballot box. They needed more money than for their typical back room deals (like what they're about to get away with at Torrey).

Make football great again with players ... not prostitutes.

In the spirit of the day, I took some time to read Martin Luther King Junoir's relatively long "Letter from a Birmingham Jail". It can be found at a number of web sites including this one:

    http://www.africa.upenn.edu/Articles_Gen/Letter_Birmingham.html

It made me reflect on my own imprisonment and the societal factors that enable such injustices even to this day.

Happy MLK Day to all fellow Hawks.
