After nearly 10 years of speeches to the San Diego City Council about Torrey Pines Gliderport, I've come to the conclusion that there is some kind of corruption that's maintaining the status quo. I don't know what it will take to break through that corruption.

Over those 10 years, I've talked to a number of people with suggestions about things I might add to my speeches. I've often been happy to do so. Thanks!!

I'm starting this topic as a more formal place to solicit such helpfull suggestions. So please join in.

Please include a proposed 2 minute speech in each post. Feel free to include (or describe) any graphics that might go with it. Please practice reading it a few times to be sure it fits in 2 minutes. Also, let me know how to attribute the speech (full name? first name? screen name? "A U.S. Hawks member"? a person "wishing to remain anonymous"? a "lifetime pilot"? other?).

It would be a nice change to be able to present other perspectives to the City Council. Be creative!!

Thanks. :)

Council member Bry, . . . Council member Bry, . . . Calling Council member Bry! Well, . . . she seems to be AWOL. :problem:

Instead of presuming corruption (which I do think is the case) I'd love to ask Council member Bry directly, and in the public forum, "Please tell me why, here in San Diego, a waiver solution can't be put in place?"

Good job Bob!

Good job Margie!

Well, it looks like Bob kept his word and posed Scott's question to the San Diego City Council.

See for yourself:

Thanks MajieMae!!    :salute: :salute: :salute:

And thanks Scott for posting your question for Councilmember Bry!!!

Here's Councilmember Bry's "answer" to your question:

"I have nothing to say to you today Mr. Kuczewski."

That's the kind of answers we get from our "public servants" in San Diego.

I welcome more suggestions!!    ;)

Council member Bry,
I live 14 hours away in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I had a friend download a waiver for me so that I will be able to fly at Dockweiler Beach but I also want to fly at Torrey Pines.

The City of San Diego has allowed two organizations, the USHPA and the local concessionaire, to become gatekeepers at Torrey Pines.

Neither of these monopolizing, gatekeepers have been subject to any oversight.
This in spite of a legal settlement by the City of San Diego.
The gatekeepers, in violation of their lease or their own SOP’s, block some citizens with expulsion.

They block all of the flying citizens with a fee for access to this public land which is a City Park and also a nationally recognized flight park by three different Presidents of these United States.

These two gatekeeping, parasitical interlopers have blocked the public’s right to recreate and are selling the right back to us.

Council Member Bry, as the steward in charge of Torrey Pines, how soon will you be able to restore our rights and stop the extortion, intimidation, false arrests, and violence?
Thank You.
(I yield back 30 seconds for your answer.)

(PS Bob if they call attention to my not living in San Diego, remind them that so it is with many other money paying tourists.)

Im Calling Total fu**ing BS on the Podium

The Gliderport Leaseholder has stolen my rights
And Currently , ,,,
Has me under a threat of violence and or personal loss, not to speak out

They have stolen Our public rights to access free airspace
under false pretence

And 2 minutes wont cover it ~ what a joke BOB

As the argument continues they have privatized Torrey Pines Gliderport and commercialized the airspace and it will be forever, if they can

Bill,

You've hit that one out of the park!!!!!

The Council is off until the new year (nice "work" schedule). But barring any other developments, I'll be giving your speech to kick off 2018.

I have to say that you've really been paying attention all these years. I really appreciate that. Thanks. :salute:

Eagle,

You're right on many of your points. But I disagree that the podium is useless.

You mentioned that you're under a threat of violence or personal loss to NOT speak out. If you don't speak out, then you're rewarding that threat.

You're right that 2 minutes doesn't cover it. But there are 52 weeks in a year ... and they add up.
