A New Face for the Forum

Postby Bob Kuczewski » Thu Jul 23, 2015 11:11 am

One of the most famous hang gliding artists in the world (Harry Martin) has recently joined our forum, and he's been kind enough to suggest updating the look of the US Hawks Forum.

I think this is a great idea, and it's been long overdue. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and whatever we do, there will be people who think it's great and people who won't.

So I'd like to open this topic to discuss how we might proceed to come up with a new look for the forum that suits as many "tastes" as possible. This discussion should include some kind of process for evaluating options and how we might arrive at a decision.

Thanks.

Somebody run something up the flag pole and we can see if it will fly.

Good answer Bill!!!

I think the FDGS Board would like to enlist Harry's help to redesign their forum. That's a great fit since Harry has already done some very famous Dockweiler art (see the FDGS topic named "FDGS Forum Style Discussion" to follow that progress).

We can see how that goes, and if it works out well, then we can run that up the flagpole as a potential example for the entire US Hawks.

P.S. Harry has inspired me, so I mustered all the artistic talent I could find and that amounted to the following fairly pitiful changes to the header bars:

OK ... it's a start.

Hang Gliding Federation USA HGFUSA http://www.worldhangglidingassociation.org/USA/HGFUSA/index.html This is Colver's name seed firmed by JoeF for BobK's possible use, if it fits the vision for USA hang gliding.

U. S. Hawks Association

U.S. Hawks Hang Gliding Association

Mission?
Bylaws?
What face says quickly what is unfolding?
BobK has rolled out what might look like a beginning of a federation of hang gliding independent clubs (local sites, local niche hang gliding activity, specialty hang glider interests, ... )

Thanks Joe!!!

Any links to the US Hawks from other sites are very helpful to increase our visibility!!

Also, I've added club icons to the forum to help give each club more of an individual identity. It's all part of the face lift prompted by Harry's generous offer.

Thanks Harry!!

Bob, I like the hawks on the emblem.
I’m getting used to the word, “Hawks,” but have a need for Hang Gliding in the Clubs name.

I've always liked the "stealthy" nature of "USHHGA".    :shh:
