I'll be driving up from San Diego, and you're welcome to ride with me. There may be others going up as well, so keep an eye on this topic as the time gets closer. It would be great to have you there ... and any gliders you can bring are a bonus!

I can ride my bike up if you're full up. But my kite will need a ride!

It would be an honor to take your kite, so consider it a deal.    I'll keep a seat empty for you as well.    :)

Hi Barb,

Please contact me as soon as possible (858-204-7499) about transportation details. I may be driving up today, so we need to get coordinated ... soon!!!

Here's the updated forecast from a few minutes ago:

Forecast Made on Sat May 21 14:45:20 2016 UTC

Time6a7a8a9a10a11a12n1p2p3p4p5p6p7p8p9p10p
Direction320320150150150250250250250250250250250250260260260

That looks like a very nice day for this event. There should be some easy flying for beginners and folks who haven't flown in years (decades?). But there might be some soaring as well.

SUPER!!!               I've added that link to the weather page (Weather in FDGS Information Forum).    :salute:

Here's the update from the National Weather Service:

Forecast Made on Sun May 22 02:01:36 2016 UTC

It looks really perfect ... mild earlier in the day (to get beginners in the air), and then picking up later for some serious soaring!!

Thanks, Barbz, for bringing you, your vintage HG T-shirts, and your parrot to the Otto 45 celebration.
What a great accent on the day: you.

Here's video of Mark lambie describing his 1971 Hang Loose while looking at a photo displayed at the 45th anniversary celebration.

He also describes his flight and mishap in a replica Curtiss pusher -1912.

Aww, shucks. Maybe next time we can all go out to eat and leave Bob to catch up after he gets his air fix.

I didn't get a chance to talk to you, I think Bob said you're interested in various types of string kites? If yes, I haz questions you might have answers to.

Barbz,
We talked very very briefly; I look forward more.
Any kite anything catches my ears and eyes and heart.
Questions too.
My nomenclature over kites has the tether-held hang glider pilot as a part of kite;
she or he is a wing in the kite as anchor to another wing in the kite; the two wings are
anchors to each other and are reacting to the apparent wind to result in the hang line
(kite line) being in tension. Any kite consists at a first level of an anchor wing, a tether set,
and another wing; together when tether set is tensioned form "kite". Take away the tether
set and see simply that two wings are then not part of "kite".

Your emails would be welcome.
Best,
JoeF
