I would like to apply for a hang 5 rating [master] I have been flying since 1973 and was given my hang 5 in 1993 by Randy Adams, Over the year's I have owned 22 gliders, have about 1200 hours and have flown sites from the Ownes valley to Grandfather mountain. I earned my aero tow rating in 1994 at Wallaby Ranch and have over 300 aero tows. I have all the extra skills with the exception of stationary tow, truck tow, and tandem.

Hello Wayne and ...

      Welcome to the U.S. Hawks!!!

You can find our rating system description at this link:

https://ushawks.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=2073

Here's the part that most likely applies in your case:

As of August 15th, 2015, the US Hawks also establishes that ratings shall be granted upon presentation of reasonable proof to any Board member that the equivalent USHPA rating exists or existed. If there is any question about validity of a rating by the Board member, then the rating shall require the 2/3 majority vote of the existing Board members.

The most common method of verification is via a USHPA number. Then one of our Board members (Bill, Joe, Sam, Scott, or myself) will look it up and verify it to issue the U.S. Hawks rating. If it can't be done that way, then we can take other approaches which may require a vote of the Board.

I hope that helps, and again, Welcome to the U.S. Hawks!!!

Board Members,

Wayne sent me his USHPA number and I've verified it via the publicly available link:

Since the rating is expired we should vote to confirm that it hasn't been removed for good cause.

Motion: I move that we award the U.S. Hawks H5 rating to Wayne Ripley based on the expired USHPA rating as publicly available.
