Concerning the record of 12 hours, 12 minutes set by Bill Lemon [sic, Lemen] that is listed in the Hang Glider Flight at Torrey Pines History and Records.
The correct spelling of Bill's name is LEMEN, and the model of the Olympus hang glider that he used was the Olympus 160.
I have attached a picture of Bill that was taken shortly after his flight and some pictures from Torrey Pines circa 1980 if you're interested.

Wow, I should remember William Lemen. His face looks familiar and the sweater thing goin' on.

I thought that looked like Pork with the ball cap. Then I saw the caption.

Also, I knew that was Jon Lindburg and his dog, Kato. But not the Oly? And that is most likely a radio on the control bar, not a vario.

Oh man, the shack! ;) Safety meetings. :shifty:

I'm not sure Bille Floyd had the Fledge?

And I never saw any para things at Torrey.

What year were these pics taken?

Thanks,
Sam

I imagine the early days of hang gliding were in line with this well-known phrase about the 60's:

Quote:
If you can remember the 60's ... you weren't really there.

I guess that means you were really there Sam!!!

Every human at every point in history has an opportunity to choose courage over cowardice. Look around and you will find that opportunity in your own time.
