Mark StuckyImage
aka: Mark P. "Forger" Stucky ... or "Forger" *
Early mid-1900s HG Renaissance Otto Member of the S-SA (international then; ISSA now) continued to a sparkling stellar career in aviation. He played a key role in helping to bring forward Era HG3 (now unfolding) via several actions, not the least of which was to coordinate loaning some of his back issues of Low & Slow to its publisher as Era HG3 was being born. His leadership has radiated from his writings, flight conduct, and technical awareness. Bringing forward the gems of his aviation life is invited in this topic thread. Mark, you are invited herein also.

"Stucky's aviation career began in 1974 when he started hang gliding off the Kansas flint hills at age 15."
One biography online NASA Dryden Biographies, Former Pilots: Mark P. Stucky

https://www.linkedin.com/in/markforgerstucky page is telling of part of his current service to others.

Concerning Mark's work in a major revision of a training manual, Wills Wing wrote:
Mark Stucky, who began his aviation career in hang gliding, is a professional military and NASA test pilot and member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots, whose flight test experience ranges from sub 20 mph speeds in paragliders to beyond Mach 3 in the SR 71 Blackbird. He is best known in the foot-launched soaring community for his informative technical articles and flight reviews in Hang Gliding magazine. Mark has updated the technical content of the manual and greatly expanded the scope of the subjects covered.

* Someone may tell us the reason for "Forger" in his story. However, at the moment, taking one of the standard definitions: "One who gives form or shape to, especially by means of careful effort" seems to fit Mark ...

I'm sure he flew F-14 Tomcats, '78-'79 :?: with the US Navy TopGun squadrons.

I don't think we ever really met, but we served aboard USS Constellation :?: I think it was. or Ranger :?: or Kitty Hawk :?: those three all smell the same. :D

I felt lucky to be able to take a guitar. For a while Mark's glider was tied to the side of the carrier above the hatch on the fantail sponson, near

the rear of the ship. It was post Nam, peace time Navy. And I remember Mark "Forger" Stucky stenciled on the Tomcat, but didn't know the connection.

Only after reading his ushpa articles ~25yr later, did I learn just whose glider that was.

Sir. Yes Sir. Salute Forger.
