Re: reopening discussion, motion, vote Paragraph 3 ending.

Hi Joe and Bill,

I endorse Bill's response. We can certainly revisit these whenever you like ... today if you're so inclined. But it would be helpful to see an actual proposed alternate wording. It's much easier to compare two concrete sets of wording than one concrete against one nebulous.

From what I'm gathering of your comments, you may be technically right that the wording could be construed to make the forum a virtual black hole of posts that go in but are never actually displayed for anyone to see. But that wouldn't be much of a forum, and maybe these terms of service were written in the obvious context of a forum. So maybe it never dawned on anyone that according to those terms of service the forum couldn't even disclose the posts themselves!!!!

Given the widespread use of phpBB, I would be very surprised if those terms of service hadn't been tested in court. But having said that, I very much welcome ideas that could make them even better and/or clearer. So please feel free to make suggestions for consideration by all of us. That's the kind of organization we're striving to become, so thanks - always - for helping us move toward those aspirations.

At this time I'd like to combine this reopened Paragraph 3 topic with the original Paragraph 3 topic. If any Board Member objects, I'll split them again.

Bob,
Yes, combining the reopened topic with the original paragraph 3 topic makes good sense.

As for better wording concerning copyright issues that Joe has brought to light I’m not yet sure that I’m on the same page with Joe as to how the current wording is ambiguous.

Re: Terms of Service - Remainder of 3rd Paragraph

There's no hurry. The Terms of Service have worked since 2010, so we can take our time and give it some thought.

If we run the Board as we are now, it becomes a bit of a buffet. The buffet is made up of the items that we and the members request, and we can pick and choose which ones we want to nibble on at our own individual paces. That takes the pressure off, and I think it will make being a Board member more enjoyable and rewarding.
