Hi Joe and Bill,
I endorse Bill's response. We can certainly revisit these whenever you like ... today if you're so inclined. But it would be helpful to see an actual proposed alternate wording. It's much easier to compare two concrete sets of wording than one concrete against one nebulous.
From what I'm gathering of your comments, you may be technically right that the wording could be construed to make the forum a virtual black hole of posts that go in but are never actually displayed for anyone to see. But that wouldn't be much of a forum, and maybe these terms of service were written in the obvious context of a forum. So maybe it never dawned on anyone that according to those terms of service the forum couldn't even disclose the posts themselves!!!!
Given the widespread use of phpBB, I would be very surprised if those terms of service hadn't been tested in court. But having said that, I very much welcome ideas that could make them even better and/or clearer. So please feel free to make suggestions for consideration by all of us. That's the kind of organization we're striving to become, so thanks - always - for helping us move toward those aspirations.
