I'll be there with my Eipper 19' FlexiFloater, set up for display, and the original 5' flying model of my Colver Skysail. I may not bring a Colver vario because it would be too easy for it to disappear when I'm not nearby.

At age 80 I hope to get a flight on a Wills Condor just as I did back in 2000. Depends on a lot of things at the time of decision.

My last flight on the Eipper was at the Cape Kiwanda anniversary meet in Oregon in 2012. Very short, about fifty feet, because I contacted a rise in the dune and a wind shadow at that spot. I won the "best Standard" trophy and it was the only "standard Rogallo" at the meet to actually fly. I won't be attempting to fly it at Dockweiler.

I am current with my USHPA pilot membership #7.

I was going to simply reply to Bob's post, . . . but then . . .

Mr. Colver. Hello! My first vario was one of your units. I loved it, really. A few months before I bought it I learned what "thermals" were, and heard that something called a variometer could help you find (and stay in) them.

And my first glider was a 17' Eipper Flexi-Flier Standard - way back in 1975. I still have its intact sail.

So, I suppose . . I will be looking forward to being able to get to the Otto Lilienthal Meet - way over there on the left coast.

History will clearly be revisited and perhaps even made fresh on the scene.

For Bob K,

Thanks for helping free up the rusty gears of motivation. I'm sure this will be a wonderful event. Now, . . . all I have to do, . . . is find a dog sitter! :eh:

Joe has some very good instructors, and I have the utmost confidence they can get you safely in the air ... one more time.

Frank, it will be an honor to share the day with with you. Thanks so much for coming.

Wingspan ... if that dog keeps you from coming to this meet ... feed him to the chickens!!!    ;)

I'll also display my 10 B & W photos of the meet taken 44 years ago, 5/23/71. Anyone else bringing photos of the 1971 meet to display?

I've printed two to a page (8 1/2 x 11) and will "document frame" them so they can lay on a table and not blow away. It would be great to have a table dedicated to showing photos of the original "Otto" HG meet.

I'll also bring the original Harry Martin watercolor of the 34th anniversary meet of Dockweiler Beach hang gliding, held in Sept 2000. This is the one signed by so many of the HG pioneers that were present that day. Unfortunately some of them are no longer with us physically but I expect they will be there in spirit.

And any other HG history stuff I decide to bring. I'm counting on a good stiff sea breeze that day (to help launch this 230 lb body, beneath wings, into the air :o ) so I won't bring anything that could blow away.

BTW I've e-mailed copies of the flyer to a number of HG folks. Some will already be aware of this 44th anniversary meet and others who might not otherwise get the notice of the event.
