Holy War

Postby Bill Cummings » Thu May 14, 2015 8:11 pm

War! What is it good for?
Not quite absolutely nothing.
In some places in this world if you do not renounce your religion and accept someone else’s beliefs your head will be cut off.

I’m actually now ready at age 66 to let go of the precept against the presidential quotes of, “You can’t negotiate with evil.”
I was wrong! It does appear that in certain situations there will never be a meeting of the minds through negotiations and that you will absolutely have to adopt the enemies mind set of, “If you do not adopt our beliefs we will kill you.”
We are saying exactly what they are saying.

It would be so much better if we in opposition with each other could just say, “You drive us up to launch and help us launch our hang gliders and tomorrow we will drive up to launch and help you into the air.”
But no! That might get in the way of some getting their virgins in the after life. Why do the women have to be the ones causing all of this strife?
The narrative has become so insane that I’m about ready to throw up my hands and say, “Let’s send them onto their virgins and they will be out of our hair!” It will be a win/win for both ways of thinking.
I wonder if thinking is really the problem and not the virgins.
Thinking of virgins can be a problem for certain segments of our society I admit.
Maybe we could solve the problem by air dropping bails of medical Marijuana, (Marry Jane) over there.
I really don’t want to see any of them killed. So doesn’t that make me the good guy in this dispute?
What can be done to make them chill out?
The only down side I can see to the air drops is that the virgins might get old and wrinkly while waiting for their chilled out holy warriors to arrive.
Now I’m not trying to be disrespectable and get myself put on some sort of a hit list, (damn I should have thought of this sooner.) but shouldn’t their be an IQ minimum to engage in this dispute?

From a friend of a friend this just in:
Wasted My Money

While strolling round the Harbor this morning about 7 am., I noticed a character shouting "Allah be praised" and "Death to all infidels" and suddenly he tripped and fell into the water.

He was struggling to stay afloat because of all the explosives he was carrying. If he didn't get help he would surely drown.

Being a responsible citizen, and abiding by the law of the land that requires you to help those in distress, I informed the Police, the Coastguard, the Immigration Office and even the Fire Dept.

It is now 11 a.m., the terrorist has drowned, and none of the authorities have yet to respond.

I'm starting to think I wasted four stamps.

Regarding your first post (further above) ...

I think it's always instructive to watch what nature does. Nature (or God making nature) has figured a lot of this stuff out long ago. In nature, animals and plants are at constant war with each other and yet they are also in constant balance with each other. There's no morality in those wars, each living thing just does what's in its own best interests and is not concerned about any consequences whatsoever.

That's the funcamental primitive system that's always present.

As humans, we've developed remarkable social systems of fairness and tolerance and compassion that we've placed on top of that underlying primitive system. Our social systems have given us the ability to form friendships together, grow food together, cure diseases together, and build flying machines together. But those social system "overlays" only work when we all agree to participate in them. When different cultures adopt radically different social systems, then the interactions between those cultures falls back to the "jungle rules" of nature. It's sad to have to admit that, but failing to admit it ... is effectively suicide.
