Thanks Joe for all you've done for hang gliding and for the US Hawks!!!

We haven't quite determined what a "term of office" is for the Trial Board, but since we started in February, would you mind serving until then?

As noted: Yes. Thank you, Team.

Joe !!!

Your retirement request is denied!!! Your wealth of knowledge, insight, integrity, passion, understanding, leadership, etc., etc., etc., is unparalleled and must be maintained if our sport is to survive. This decision (made by the newly formed 'decision panel') is final and can't be challenged. However, your request will be reconsidered in 2020, but don't get your hopes up...

Thanks Phil. I was at work after a long day when I read your line. I laughed out loud for a good 5 minutes ... and I'm still smiling.    :D

Joe, I'm sorry to hear about your friend Dan. Thanks very much for continuing on with us despite your loss. I suspect we can get a vote from the Board to make Dan an Honorary US Hawks member. Please introduce that motion in the Board area and I'm sure it will be seconded and passed before the next sunset.

Thanks again for all you've done, and thanks to everyone who's helping to make this happen.

I never use the word retire because it means death.
For some it is the beginning of your life

I lost 3 close friends May 9 to June 2 and am still dealing with the repercussions but I will prevail against my enemies

Its best to get out of the litigation business and concentrate on engineering.
Ushpga is Done. The prolongation of its death is only for entertainment purposes.

Very sorry to read about Dan's death. I considered Dan to be a good friend when we were both active in SoCal hang gliding activities.

When I was producing the variometers I mentioned to Dan that I was concerned about product liability. He said DON"T BUY INSURANCE! He told me; "the the only parachute manufacturer that had ever been sued was the one and only that carried product liability insurance". "No lawyer would sue the others because they would only end up owning a barn full of parachutes".

As you can see, I never forgot those statements by Dan.

Dan, may the lift be good and may your spirit soar forever!

Bob K :- "Anyone wanting to make additional comments is free to do so. Thanks for a great motion Joe, and thanks to all Board members for 100% participation."

Comments cannot be made on the Board members page. However Dan Poynter's book "Hang Gliding the Basic Handbook of Skysurfing" has been on my bookshelf for 40+ years and is still a great reference book. So I agree with the Board's decision to give Dan honorary status in recognition of his contribution to hang gliding.

You're right Tony, and I'm sorry that the forum layout isn't as clear as I'd like it to be. :(

The "Building the US Hawks" forum contains a subforum for Board business. You can, however, create topics directly in that parent forum to discuss whatever you want.

I've copied your post there with the title "Dan Poynter as Honorary member of U.S. Hawks". Please check it out and let me know if there are any problems with it.

Thanks very very much for bringing your rich hang gliding history to the US Hawks, and please let me know if there's anything I can do to improve the forum to your liking!!

Sincerely,
Bob Kuczewski

P.S. I think the Trial Board would welcome your participation if you're interested. We are the "US" Hawks, but I wouldn't object to a member from "across the pond" participating if you'd like.
