Hospital care for injured soaring parachutists in Nepal :o
VIDEO http://www.ntv.ru/novosti/1458176/

Two Russian paragliders in Nepal are calling out for help. Ayrat Khamadeev and Grigory Andreev, who three weeks ago nearly died during a flight on a paraglider, are still unable to return to their homeland. Judging by the alarming reports that our people received, despite all that time doctors have not operated, and transportation from Kathmandu to Moscow for some reason was delayed. The victims are afraid that because nothing is being done, they may not ever return.

Grigoriy Andreev and Ayrat Khamadeev learned today that their transportation back home was again postponed.

Although the flight was agreed to by the embassy, the Nepalese doctors refused to do even dressing because the patients do not have adequate insurance. :o Operations are out of the question, despite the fact that the men have multiple open fractures. :o Messages received by phone are impossible to listen to without a shudder: ""Lord, save us. Thank you, and had I not broken legs, I would fall on my knees and began to pray for you."

In the video, one can barely recognize the formerly merry and cheerful Andreev. He has lost 10 kilos and is now so exhausted that he is barely talking. He and his friend have already been in the Nepalese clinic for two weeks. They do not have painkillers or medicines for Russian tourists in the clinic. :o

Fans of extreme sports, the men saw paragliding as harmless entertainment. Everything seemed to be going according to plan, but in the moment of landing, because of a gust of wind, the men crashed into a concrete wall. Upon learning of the incident, the relatives wanted fly the victims on a conventional aircraft to Russia, but the Nepalese doctors strictly forbade such an option. According to them, the transportation should take place under medical supervision. Because the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation have already signed all the documents, we had hoped the agency would send the emergency medical workers required. Oleg Salagaev, spokesman for the Health Ministry, had stated, "After all the necessary formalities in order to complete the evacuation of our citizens, the victims in Nepal, we will bring them home to continue medical care."

Despite this, rescuers insist that the team has not yet received any documents.

Vladislav Schegrikovich, head of the 1st Division of the Department of Information Ministry of Emergency Situations, said, "This is a very serious situation. All the necessary actions have been fulfilled. We have 50 people in the same situation in different parts of the world. I have the opportunity to influence the process of evacuation there. "

Tourists from Russia break their legs during a flight on a paraglider in Nepal
As the correspondent of NTV, Vasilisa Kazakova, relayed, the injured paragliders are anxious to be taken to the emergency Institute of Sklifosovsky. But Russian doctors who have carefully studied the footage from the Nepalese hospitals fear that patients have begun irreversible tissue atrophy, in which case there is talk about amputation. :o :o :o

A man died in a hang gliding accident at Fort Funston in San Francisco on Sunday, August 23, 2015. (KGO-TV)

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO)
PARAGLIDER DIES AFTER CRASHING INTO MOUNTAIN AT SAN FRANCISCO'S FORT FUNSTON
Fort Funston in San Francisco on Sunday. Firefighters say the person fell about 15 feet down the cliff after impact. Fire dispatchers got the first report of the incident at 3:50 p.m. Witnesses said the man flew the hang glider directly into a hill without trying to steer away from it. First responders are not sure whether the man suffered a heart attack or whether he got caught in an updraft of wind. Battalion Chief Jeff Barden said the man was in his 50s and was hang gliding by himself.

As usual, there's some early confusion about hang gliding or paragliding. :(

I just checked the Fellow Feathers web site (http://flyfunston.org) and I didn't see anything posted.

HAND GLIDING STATISTICS FROM THE US HAND GLIDING AND PARAGLIDING ASSOCIATION
Just one day prior on Saturday, a man hand gliding in Daly City is said to have gotten caught in some telephone wires. Fire crews were successful in safely getting him down. He did not suffer serious injuries.
Back in May, another paraglider suffered a similar death when they crashed into a cliff near Mussel Rock Park Beach also in Daly City.
That victim, like the victim of Sunday’s accident, is said to have been a man in his 50s.
In 2010, the US Hand Gliding and Paragliding Association about 2 in 1000 paragliders died in paragliding-related accidents in the United States. The number of deaths has seen a decrease since the high of 9 deaths per 1000 paragliders in 2003.

PG wrestles with house while safe-splat equipped Swift look down at the Ozone Warbler* PG incident.
This incident in the clip is distinct from the Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, fatal incident which is the subject
of the above two posts; really clear description of craft and incident for the Sunday incident
are not yet in, but one report seems to tell; I will let that come up by others.
