Back in 2005 I did this cartoon. It's been 10 years now. What has changed?

Harry, you were a true visionary. Back when I was happy to be paying just one association to cover both my hang gliding and my paragliding, YOU were seeing the problems far off on the horizon.

I tip my hat to your wisdom and your foresight. The same is true for many others like Rick Masters who could see the writing on the wall. That's why it's so important to have people like yourselves on our Board, and I hope you'll consider joining it. Just let me know.

Also, with USHPA's insurance fiasco under way, this is an important window in the sport's history to move in a different direction. We could use all the help we can get. Thanks!!

Very good Harry!

Back in my frequent flying days I remember seeing some turkeys (the non-feathered type) flying hang gliders. :wtf:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Rick Masters posted a spectacular image of a train flying off the rails

viewtopic.php?f=42&t=2101&start=10

Reminded me of an image I created around 1999 (can't remember the exact date). My image was for Hang Gliding Magazine and the story had a reference to a train wreck or launching, or something or other...anyway, here it is.

Drawn just before ultralights began invading hang gliding. Early drawing from the 80s. I cringe now when I look at my early drawing style.

Harry,

It's wonderful looking over your great cartoons. I've also been surprised that Rick Masters has similar talent.

Once upon a time, I wrote the captions for a cartoon (without pictures) for our old Southern NY HG Pilots Assoc. (out of Ellenville, NY) newsletter called "Hawk Talk". The "strip" was called "Thermal King and Sky Pup" (a seasoned old guy pilot and the newer Intermediate pilot "partnership"). The time frame was "sometime in the future". That is, looking forward from the then late 1980s. I guess that now would be the then future!

About ten years ago I had some free time on my hands and created a REAL comic strip. It had nothing to do with flying, but was fun and got the creative juices flowing! Its main character is Bundilly Rabbit (and friends). The "Bundilly" name began as an imagined young child's mispronunciation of "bunny". But, as it ends up, Bundilly Rabbit is also a bundle of trouble and a dilly of a rabbit - hence Bundilly! :D

Connecting all this back to hang gliding, . . . Just maybe he could cop a glide with those large ears of his! ? ?

Hmmmm, . . . A kind of homage to the Flying Nun? :eh:
