Welcome to the US Hawks, Mark!

I'd guess you joined the U$hPa back in 1977 or '76. My member # isn't too far off from yours and I joined in '77.

Howie,
Most of the sites near me are unregulated by USHPA. I can be your site guide since you are good to go with your flight history as far as I'm concerned.
We have started a "Look ma no USHPA" thread with open sites.
EDIT
Hey? How did I post to Howie over here? What the heck anyway? :?
Edit again.
Okay I see that we are addressing two separate pilots so I'm good to go here.
It's after 6pm here in NM and my first mistake today other than spelling is that I thought I'd made a mistake
but it turned out that I was right after all.

Hi Mark,

Welcome to US Hawks.

u$hPa has you rated H-4 by Ron Kenney. I have never met Ron, but I know he is well respected.

I think he is in Reg.6. Are you also in that area.

If you would, tell us where/what you've been flying.

Again, Welcome

I would like to apply for a US HaWK rating as well. ushpa #48563
( I had a much lower number in the early days but let it lapse and had to start over in 1988)
I really have no idea what year it was issued but it was current until feb. of 2016 when I chose to let it lapse again.
I was rated a h4 with most the special skills I think....FSL, CL, AWCL, RLF,
got an aerotow rating also
Lots and lots of XC experience, mostly flying alone in Eastern WA and hitching rides back or flying out and returns or triangles. I always tried to land back on top next to my vehicle so I have a lot of top landing experience including downwind/uphill landings.
started flying in 1973 in the Seattle area with No instructor or fellow hang pilots. I have already shared that story.
How many Xc miles... no idea....thousands.
Gliders i have flown:
Jobe Standard, Bamboo Batso, a twin keel contraption, Chandelle Standard,Cirrus Standard, Manta Standard, Bennett Standard, Sky sports kestral (George Worthingtons old Kestral painted up like a moth by Renee Ewing), Flexi-flier, Delta wing Lazor, Delta wing Dreams, Delta Wing Streak, Delta wing phoenix 6B, Wills Wing SST, Wills wing super Sport 163 and 153, Wills Wing Euro Sport 167 (still have it). Moyes Lightspeed S, wills Wing sport 2, WW Falcon, Moyes extralight, mOyes Super Extralight, northwing merger, norhwing vector, northwing Ezy, Northwing Horizon, Northwing Freedom.
Experimental prototypes wings i have extensively test flown and helped produce,
Northwing Merger, Northwing vector, Northwing Ezy, northwing horizon, Northwing Freedom
Radical test flying of the first Northwing freedom prototypes revealed several problems that were later solved. I bet you guys didnt know I could take the first freedom protoytpe and easily exceed 60 mph. I could also maintain a continuous flat spin in the first prototype....it was not exactly a beginner glider first time outa the chute.

sites I have flown? I will only list well known sites.. popular places like Chelan Butte, Chelan Airport ridge(my first high altitude flight), tekoa, Rampart ridge, Mattawa, Saddle, etc.
I have flown about two dozen sites in eastern WA. no on has ever heard of....
Other sites people have heard of include Dog Mtn, Eagle, Blanchard, Barr mt. , Panorama, Burley, Mt. Si, Dyer hill, Sollie smith,Cape kiwanda, Andersons, Bremer Mtn, Fort Funston, Torrey, horse canyon, little black, Otay Mesa, Crestline,

I have competed very little.....a few comps in Chelan....won a few, lost a few...set a few regional records for single surface flights. Also did pretty good in the Falcon XC contest Ben Davidson ran for a few years.

I received my hang 4 at torrey pines along time ago. I have no idea who signed me off...I might be listed as ....Sunny Jim Fenison Ushpa # 48563 but I do not want to use the ....sunny JIm...nickname for my US HAWKS rating...thanks....

Hi Jim!!!

I've added your rating to the list as pending verification. I've also issued the HGP (Hang Glider Pilot) rating as being self-declared. The HGP is a way of emphasising that hang glider pilots do not need anyone's "stamp of approval" to be hang glider pilots in the United States. We also offer the traditional numbered ratings for situations where that level of specificity is required.

Hopefully, one of our Board members can confirm your ratings soon. If you can post your most recent rating card it might help.

here is a couple pics of whats left of my USHpa card....The card was just the right thickness to cut off a couple slices to make depth Gauges for measuring flue depth in the Flutes I make so I diced it up but for a good cause (flutes)

Hi Jim,

I checked your rating and it is currently expired. According to our procedure, that means the Board needs to vote on it. It's not a big deal, and I'll make the motion right after this post.

Hello Fellow US Hawks Board members,

I've posted the supporting information available for Jim Fenison's H4 application in the previous post. Jim has presented additional information in the post prior to that.

Since the rating is currently expired, we should vote to issue an equivalent US Hawks rating.

I hereby move that we issue a US Hawks rating to Jim Fenison based on the USHPA rating card presented and the USHPA verification shown above. I also move that each Board member should satisfy themselves of the validity of the rating and any objections discovered or voiced should stop the vote.

Do I hear a second?
