Howie,
Consider carrying a card:
"I am a Hang Glider Pilot with H3 rating equivalency and 100 additional special aviation-related skills."
Fly any airspace while respecting other aircraft, people, and properties. Take 100% responsibility for your
actions and adventure.

... Done deal.

Consider sharing your knowledge and adventure in the US Hawks forum. Thank you for your inputs to date! Welcome. :salute:

The bottom line is
The awarded raiting
Was politically c#ck blocked
Because I ratted out a local instructor
Who had more friends in
The right places

Haha jo I'll right it on toilet paper
That what it would be worth

Howie,
It seems you enjoy flying, building, discovering ... and sharing your experiences with others.
It seems you care to survey smartly to fly safely. It seems you are fulfilling F.A.A. guide that hang gliders self regulate.
F.A.A. does not require any pilot license for your ultralight flying in uncontrolled airspace while respecting time of day and relationship with clouds and congested situations ... and VFR.
Keep up the learning, good works, and sharing.

Any pilot that came to me and asked for assistance launching from any uncontrolled site in my area -- something like this would put my fears to rest. They need not even have a hang rating.
A video with flight and sometimes track logs.

This doesn't surprise me at all, and it's what we're working to fix.

Please give us time to verify the facts. Thanks.

Howie,
I too have some paperwork that is not registered.
In 2003 I started to collect my information from my log books and get the two required signatures from observers for my H5 Masters rating.
By 2004 I had displayed enough of what I already knew to a Region #4 observer and he signed off on my H5.
(The procedure can take a while.)
Then I found out that I would have to trust the US Mail with my eight log books and send them off out of state to my RD Jim Z.
After considering that all I might get back from the US Mail was an insurance check in place of my log books I said,
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I am yielding to the US Hawks rating system that is in place right now for the reasons described in the posts above this one.
Some year I may attain my HANG V rating and all the prestige that comes with it. (Which I've witnessed can be fattening.)
I long for the days when when lowly H4's, and worse, will kneel and kiss my H5 ring.
But let me assure you --, at my brittle age, I won't be landing in any LZ more difficult than a H3
Let me know when I have to clear my schedule to be your site guide down here in New Mexico.
