What was wrong with Bill Bennett's release system.... He had the right idea of not letting go of the control frame while doing surface launches... it appears that this system would let you escape a lockout fast without moving your hands form the uprights or bass bar.

What I do see, it may make steering the glider a little harder and not having too much pitch control while on tow and maybe that is why pilots decided to tow under the bass bar and not from the front of the glider, this unit is almost the same system for aero towing, except it goes to the front of the bass bar and not to the keel... if it could be re-modified, somehow to work for platform towing that maybe the trick, keeping the main release on the bass bar and somehow modifying it to go under the bass bar on to the pilot. I have read of pilots crashing because, they were hanging on for dear life and did not reach-out to the main release for whatever reason they experienced during their last moments

I have been trying to find out how this works looks like some kind of release of some type where you don't have to get your hands off the bar. It appears that one goes to the the bass bar and the other goes to the keel so to activated you would pull the line on the bass bar to release the keel tow line.... shouldn't there be another line as well??? It does have a lot of lines on it and pullies too, how would that go on a hang glier?

This winch has been retired from service after several attempts to correct a loss of tention problem. Jeff Hunt sold this mojo gear winch to Me at the last Texas Open in '09 and I flew it about 15 times befor giving up on it. We replaced it with an automotive disc & wheel from St.Lewis. This one is much better. A new sprocket and chain, and I'll be able to fly the Sport2 I've bought from Kit Martin, in Ellenville N.Y. When ever I can get it here.I need to say THANK YOU! to Sam, For all his work on our Platform, and Al, for finding this wing for Me,now I'm begging a ride for this glider down to Tx. Any one out there,HELP!
