Honoring the rich history and bright future of gliding at Dockweiler Beach

Feb 19,2017 Sunday Funday

Weather forecast for Sunday the 19th is starting to look better than it has all week. Right now it's showing W @ 8 mph during the usual flying time of the day. That's a good forecast for gliding flights on Windsports' Condor.

It's moved from 8 all day to 9/10 all day.

I like that trend. :)

I plan to be there if it's even hinting at being flyable.

Me too.

I'll bring my big sand rake so we can at least get some site maintenance done and hopefully some flying too.

I'll depend on using the Condor, if it's flyable weather.

Sounds good. I'll call when I'm leaving so you'll know when to expect me.

Good Luck guys! I hope the wind is good enough to soar!

If you were on east coast time, you'd probably already be flying. :)

I'd love to be there and be able to get my feet off the ground today. But that's not gonna happen. :(

However, it's supposed to get close to, or over, 50 degrees today (mid/late February in central NY ? ? ?)
so I may be able to go kayaking or bicycling.

Thanks Scott!!! Come out and fly with us any time.

The wind was a little light so Frank and I worked on our light wind launching and landing.

Great flying today Frank!!

Welcome to the sport of hang gliding Blake!

Here's my light wind launch practice. I'm re-training a tendency I have to retract my "landing gear" too soon. So in this video I'm constantly telling my brain to keep the gear down and run anytime I feel the sand under my feet. BobK is also yelling run, run, run............... but I don't remember hearing those yells, after I started running, but maybe subconsciously I did.

Here's the video: https://vimeo.com/204990911

Another good day at Dockweiler Beach!
