PARAGLIDING

PG fatality #1576
Could you fly over that mountainside in a hang glider without getting killed?
I could.
Could you ride the same thermal that killed the soaring parachutist over the crest on your hang glider?
I could. I would enjoy it.
My knowledge of airframes makes me smarter than a certain number of people. Do you know that number?
I do.
All the people who would argue with me are still alive.

New signs and a new section of fence at the former Kings Forest ski hill advise the public that hang gliding and parasailing are prohibited by city bylaw.
The city is taking steps to ground hang gliders and para-sailers on the east Mountain.
Signs and a new section of fence have been installed at a popular spot for the aerial hobbyists at what used to be the Kings Forest ski hill on the north end Mountain Brow Boulevard.
The signs remind the public that hang gliding and parasailing are prohibited by city bylaw; the fence fills a gap where a gate used to be, said a city spokeswoman.
Violators face a fine of up to $5,000.
The move comes after a video surfaced recently of a hang glider who took off from Dundas Peak and floated over houses and roads before landing in a park.

Defend your rights as a hang glider pilot. Form a national hang gliding association.
