Wonderful to have you show here Pete!
Long time ... !
You gifted Hang Glider Weekly over and over again. Ever thanks to and for you.

Your nephew Dave in your bamboo-framed HG is featured in a Getty image HERE. The caption does not give due credit about getting off the ground; indeed, the photo shows Dave is fully off the ground! Look closely.
What a grand aviation run you have been having, Pete ! Congratulations. :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:

0-100 page has Pete showing. Take a look:  http://flypegasuspower.com/wp/pete-plumb/

Yes Joe, there were several good shots of Dave actually airborne in the December 2000 article! We lost him in 2014 when his Cessna 210 was struck by another plane. Dave will forever be immortalized in a Martin cartoon (which I can't seem to find right now) of the attached pic.

Hello Rick Masters! Yes, I'm sure our paths have crossed. I have a pic of McCready sitting backwards in my MG with a strain gauge and a towline hooked up to the Bionic Bat. He was doing empirical drag tests on it here at Shafter. I'll dig that pic up. I also have some great old footage of Ted Ancona foot launching his Icarus V from the ramp here at Shafter. I jumped in the Aeronca L-3 (Bryan Allen's) and chased him up to get some good air-to-air of him. Come to think of it, I need to post all those old films on YouTube. I've got some never before seen footage of all kinds of flying stuff from those days.

Bill and I go way back but I'm embarrassed to say the last time I saw him was when I was still in Tehachapi at Mt. Valley Airport.

I was at the Montgomery Meet at Escape Country in 1974 with the Bamboozer (as I called it, which is weird because I've never been a boozer, LOL). I'm sure a lot of you in US Hawks were there. I slept under my bamboo glider on top of "the 500" and "flew down to breakfast" the next morning. Great memories!

We need to get together Rick! Are you still at SLO? I could fly over or you can come to KMIT. Love to reintroduce myself.

BTW - Check out my thread on this forum about my hang glider basic trainer ideas. Tomorrow (Tuesday) after Bob, Joe (I hope) and I thank the LA County BOS for one year of free flying at Dockweiler (when Windsports is closed), I will be test gliding my 1/5 scale model of my basic trainer design at Dockweiler Beach. At the same time Bob will be discovering the joys of seated flying with my swing seat harness and adapters on his Falcon 195.

Dangit! I would have loved to have come watch that Frank! Putting some leading edges on some Cub wings today. Next time you go I'd like to come down and watch though!

See my PM. I finally made it up to the Homebuilders meet a few weeks ago with Mike Grisham. Met Jeff Byard at his hanger. He showed me his Baby. You have his great book, I'd guess. Bill's hanging out with Eric Raymond in the Swamp. He and Carlos M taught me to fly when I took ME at Cal Poly SLO. I was the guy filming Roy Haggard's late evening Kremer run in the Bat. If you were there, I took lots of photos that day. That was the day I met Taras K and Parker. Maybe Paul M took us to lunch in Shafter? Dave Ductor and Dave Butz were also good friends. I went to Foothill HS with Larry Lowe who killed himself years later on Hang glider Hill on May 29, 1976. Also the first place I soared for more than 10 min.

Greetings pilots and all. My name is Steven Smith advanced instructor & pilot since 1970s
Bob called and had a nice talk , very nice gentlemen pilot.
I was at the top of my carrier in hang gliding as instructor and schools of my own.
Until I was hog tied and backstabbed by ushga , lies abounded causing divorce and horrific life changing struggles.
I have stayed clear of the USHGA insanity and corruption since early 2002 .
I have logged over 20k hours.
Flown Arizona, Las Vegas rodeo air.
Started flying on the Oregon coast and northwest.
All corners of the Americas Mexico, Canada all over USA.
Built first Commercial hang gliding tow boat but coppied.
Trike pilot , no paraglider anymore, if no airframe no thanks.
Have a horrible reputation by way of untrue gossipi and outright lies on sites like hanggliding.org
I know the truthfulness of my untarnished history as well as some others.

Attached pic . Me below boat towing at 5000 AWL. Well pictures won't upload.

That's my quick introduction. Sincerely. Steven Smith formerly advanced pilot and instructor.
No place like cloud base. USHGA IS NOT THE WAY.
Excuse any errors working on cell phone's small screen .
