I only did one flight and my flight pre planning was to fly out beyond the lift zone and land at the bottom so as to having completely clear airspace. I was surprised at how far out the lift zone extended. If I tried I may have been able to soar in an area beyond the PG's.

Notice me rocking the wing on the way out to the first turn. I had never turned this glider and I was getting a feel for how responsive it would be in roll control. It turns out to have beautiful roll characteristics - fast response and not difficult to hold it where you want it. A couple of days before my flight John Heiney flew it several times both seated and prone and didn't get any negitive feelings about the glider.

From what I have heard, this Condor 225 is exactly like the Falcon Tandem 225 but with lighter construction, for training schools. I got Mike M's blessing to fly it in early morning conditions at the Point, before i took it to Utah (the C 330 stays home).

Notice I'm tending to fly fast (speed is your friend) but I let it out a little more as I get more comfortable in flight.

Also notice how much different the wind speed in in the LZ compared to Launch. High elevation density and light wind probably contributors to my tripping on landing. I was pushed out but that glider was still moving pretty fast over the ground.

I got an email from my son Matt who flew bamboo and plastic at the first Otto meet, May 23, 1971 and continued to hang glide for several years after that and was USHGA #6. here's a quote from his email after he saw the POTM flight:

"Dockweiler is a gateway drug. Now you've gone from beer to weed. Next it will be Crestline".

I was in the middle of the San Juan river when your cell call came through on Saturday. My phone was ringing inside my drybag and I heard it announce your number. I didn't call back that evening because the service is spotty and conversation is "painful". I thought it might be to see if I could go to Dockweiler today. It's a bit far from the Four Corners area.

The good news is that we're starting to grow a nice collection of Dockweiler waiver flyers, so it's getting easier and easier to find folks to fly with when our Founding Members are out of town.
