Which brings us back to the title of this thread. Davis Straub, should get all the credit he deserves!
Of the many things to credit Davis, is unwavering idolatry to prize winning economy theorist, Paul Krugman.
Davis Straub, the journalist, mimicks Krugman's economic beliefs pretty much word for word.
The quote below was inspiration for this thread.

. . . when he says in his recent NY Times column, and in all of his previous columns, that the biggest problem facing America today is that government bureaucrats have too little of our money to spend, and we greedy taxpayers have too much of it? That is exactly what is meant when he says that "government spends too little, not too much." A wise old economist recently pointed out that MIT-trained math jocks posing as economists, such as Krugman, are best described as "idiot savants" (exhibiting and odd and atypical brilliance in doing math problems but rather an idiot in general).

Many can't post on Davis Straub's blog because of censorship.

In another thread, without such a catchy title, I started to ding the "journalist" for his unprofessional journalism.

Davis Straub, doesn't adhere to a journalist's code of ethics. Maybe with his fingers crossed?

If Davis were running for a political office he would have 'high negative' ratings.
A lot of people that know him, don't like him.

He tried to imbed himself into the inner circle at USHPA corporation so he could more easily work his special interest but everyone there 'knew' him and voted him off the island.

Yellow journalism:
A few days ago there was a likely fake article saying that President Obama had put out a 'kill' order against
anti-war presidential candidate, Ron Paul, ..likely meaning, 'stifle' all press coverage with a hint of more ominous overtones.

It would be very hard to prove that Obama did this but the proven facts are that this is exactly what has been happening to Ron Paul. The military-industrial-complex lap dog media has gone out of its way to do this very thing.
Davis Straub, self proclaimed journalist, must have gotten his marching orders over 4 years ago.
Straub actually banned people from mentioning the name Ron Paul, on his site while he promoted the "Hope and Change" candidate for, of, and by Wall Street, four years ago..
Now look at how that has worked out.

Pity to anyone that wanted to discuss pilots named Ron or Paul, because the yellow journalist wouldn't allow it.

Previous to this 'killing' action taking effect, Davis Straub, and his web manager, "Scare" both admitted blocking out more traffic than they had ever seen coming to the "OZ' site on "Ron Paul" hits.

Thousands and thousands of open minded, intelligent young people had a chance exposure to the beauty of pure flight hang gliding and they were beaten away by the actions of the truly yellow journalist, Davis Straub.

USHPA corporation intends to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years to 'google stalk' open minded, intelligent young people into the membership and Davis Straub, single handedly cancels out the same effect that would cost absolutely nothing... except to Davis Straub's fragile ego and corrupted integrity.

Davis Straub, who claims to be an unbiased and fair minded journalist is no such thing.

Davis Straub should be sanctioned by the USHPA membership for violating the Journalist's Code of Ethics in the past Regional Director's recall election where Davis Straub tilted the playing field against one man in favor of another.

The known 'dirty pool' actions of Davis Straub is why he wasn't allowed on the Competition Committee, IMO.

Davis Straub can't have it both ways.
He can't claim to be a fair journalist when at the same time a he's a known yellow blogger that resorts to cheating to win.

Correct. I welcome Davis, and Jack, and Brad Hall, and Mark Forbes, and Bill Helliwell, and everyone else (including Tad) to this forum. But we do have to retain some ability to keep topics on track and make some kind of progress if we really want to build a new national hang gliding organization.

I don't mind a topic like this with its obvious political overtones (although I think it might be better in the "Free Speech Zone") as long as it doesn't start to take over the forum and drive everyone away. We have to realize that there are people on the political right and left who make good contributions to the sport of hang gliding. I want them all to feel welcome here.

‘Indefinite Detention’ Bill Heads To Obama’s Desk As White House Drops Veto Threat

Establishment media and neo-cons still pretend NDAA doesn’t apply to American citizens

UPDATE: Obama has dropped his threat to veto the bill and is now expected to sign it into law. Remember – it was Obama’s White House that demanded the law apply to U.S. citizens in the first place.

The bill which would codify into law the indefinite detention without trial of American citizens is about to be passed and sent to Obama’s desk to be signed into law, even as some news outlets still erroneously report that the legislation does not apply to U.S. citizens.


“The House on Wednesday afternoon approved the rule for the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), setting up an hour of debate and a vote in the House later this afternoon,” reports the Hill.

Mainstream news outlets like The Hill, as well as neo-con blogs like Red State, are still pretending the indefinite detention provision doesn’t apply to American citizens, even though three of the bill’s primary sponsors, Senator Carl Levin, Senator John McCain, and Senator Lindsey Graham, said it does during speeches on the Senate floor.

“It is not unfair to make an American citizen account for the fact that they decided to help Al Qaeda to kill us all and hold them as long as it takes to find intelligence about what may be coming next,” remarked Graham. “And when they say, ‘I want my lawyer,’ you tell them, ‘Shut up. You don’t get a lawyer.’”

As Levin said last week, it was the White House itself that demanded Section 1031 apply to American citizens.
“The language which precluded the application of Section 1031 to American citizens was in the bill that we originally approved…and the administration asked us to remove the language which says that U.S. citizens and lawful residents would not be subject to this section,” said Levin, Chairman of the Armed Services Committee.

Senator McCain also told Rand Paul during a hearing on the bill that American citizens could be declared an enemy combatant, sent to Guantanamo Bay and detained indefinitely, “no matter who they are.”

Quite how those still in denial could even entertain the notion that the bill would not apply to American citizens when the Obama administration is already enforcing a policy of state assassination and killing American citizens it claims are “terrorists,” without having to present any evidence or go through any legal process, is beyond naive.

With the White House having largely resolved its concerns with the bill, which had nothing to do with the ‘indefinite detention’ provision, Obama could put pen to paper as early as tomorrow on a law that if recognized will nullify the bill of rights – ironically tomorrow is “Bill of Rights Day”.

I didn't read the entire book (parts available at http://ozreport.com/docs/Cloudsuck1.pdf), but I didn't see any reference to Jerry Katz being the first person to fly 100 miles in a hang glider. I was expecting to see that in the introduction where it began discussing some hang glider history leading up to the 200 mile milestone.

If anyone can post to the Oz Report, you might want to ask whether Jerry was left out of the entire book, or if it just wasn't prominently mentioned in the parts that were posted.
