Win Perkins, a real estate appraiser who specializes in airport properties, has posted on his Website a video he created of Charles Lindbergh's famous and risky takeoff in the "Spirit of St. Louis" on May 20th, 1927.

According to Perkins, his is unlike any other presentation of the Lindbergh takeoff footage. Perkins painstakingly assembled news footage from five cameras that filmed Lindbergh's takeoff from Roosevelt Field, Long Island, and mixed it with enhanced audio from the same newsreel sources, making it one of the most interesting videos to be sent over the Internet!

It will be more enjoyable if you FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW:

First, click on "CONTACT" on the left, and then select #1. Watch them in order, #1 through #4, each time going back to "Contact" and selecting the next one.

If you're an airplane or history buff, you will be glued to the screen through all four episodes.

...What guts it took for Lindbergh to overcome all the odds against him, and accomplish this amazing feat. And when he landed in Paris, the mob that greeted him turned out to be the most dangerous part of his trip!

Lindberg had some other risky takeoffs. He made a trip down along the Rio Grand. He landed in Camp Wood, Tx, 20mi. from here, actually on the Nueces River, ~70mi from Xico.
On takeoff he clipped a telegraph pole along main street.

The story goes that they sent for spare parts to rebuild the plane, including a prop. The community organized some festivities while the repairs were being completed.

Today the Camp Wood Museum proudly displays the old Lindberg prop on the wall. The city park is called Lindberg Park.

We have our own little-known Charles Lindburg history here in San Diego. According to what I've read, he was one of the first glider pilots to fly in the lift along Torrey Pines.

But I hadn't heard that Lindburg story from ... deep in the heart of Texas!!!

I Could always Fly My Bag

For anyone who's not up on the latest slang, the term "bag" is used as a nick name for "paraglider". Ernie is one of our many biwingual Hawks and there have been many days when he switches between hang gliding and paragliding depending on the conditions. The right tool for the right job!!

Eagle,
Keep putting up the excellent art and pictures.
Your last picture arrived at my laptop with a scroll bar to its right.
When I clicked on it to expand it to full size I next had to click “F11”
to eliminate the address bar at the top to see the full picture.
With those two steps I was able to view the tall picture.
Earlier Bob had said that some of my posted pictures were too big and grainy looking.
Robin Hastings says my photos look okay to him using the Google Chrome search engine. I use Firefox which also displays a clear photo.
I was wondering if other users of yet differing search engines find pictures posted by you (eagle) to be grainy. If that is the case try using Google Chrome or Firefox search engines to clear up the posted pictures.

I also can adjust picture size by holding down, “CTRL” (the lower left hand button) and then pressing - or + button.
I hope this helps viewers if they are not viewing the top quality excellent pictures posted by eagle.
