Please, a typo correction in former post:
Change
Consider string wing running.
to
Consider street wing running.

Thanks,

Fixed.

By the way, this really is an inspiring idea for the sport of hang gliding:

JoeF wrote: Aim for Joy Frame: all-out energetic sprints with wing .... over and over again nearly daily over weeks, months, and years, despite inevitable stumbles. Have 1000 students also so wing run without holding back on the energy! No more hesitancy in the wing runs. Wing run safely in calms. Wing run on paved streets or firebreaks. Do flight hops. Do ground-effect gliding. Urban gliding. City-park and city-street wing running when planned for safe global operations. Schools: Wing running is coming to your physical-education classes!

That would certainly brighten up the future prospects for hang gliding!!!

Forming further notes in the song Joy Frame
is the following design rough note. The note has some errors, incompleteness, and causes for coming clarities : )
... fut the singing continues. I file a permanent version of the note with US Hawks by uploading the sketch:

Thanks, BobK, for the core typo fix
and you awareness of the potential impact of Safe-Splat wing-running on the future of hang gliing.

Best to you and team

We go now to another version of Joy Frame
of the "One-cell" variety hugging the wing
which wing gives rigid position of the rectangular-pyramid down tube legs.
This version of Joy Frame has system CG closer to the wing.
The "heart" is now just the apex of the pyramid.
Notice that the skies may be water-floats. See Portable Mountain honoring today's court challenge:

Using inflated wing spar and water-float skis, then one would have a HG that would float.
Recall that we may have all the down tubes pre-curved off straight in order to facilitate landing-shock damping.

Russian primary glider by Antonov
Oleg Konstantinovich Antonov
Antonov built his 1923 primary glider. Take peak at his broad skid:

BobK remarked that a best "Safe-Spat" is no splat at all. See his original remark in the
http://ushawks.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1668
The Cycle-Glider
where one may explore unicycle as a Safe-Splat frame arrangement.

BobK wrote:Now that gets my vote for "Safe Splat" because the safest splat ... is no splat at all!!!!

Notice the advanced wing involved in the article there. See link there to the correct patent; the article had a typo in the patent number.

For the wing-runner, having one big wheel between running legs is challenging. A primary-glider non-wing-running arrangement may more easily look into a single large wheel where pilot is set inside the wheel.

Very good point!!!!!!

By the way, your wing running concept might benefit from a "Wing Running Meet" to bring people together for an event.

Otto Lilienthal's birthday is coming up again ... what do you think?

Furthering development of Joy Frame.

===============
Considering the use of a sleeve over the legs of the Joy Frame:
(I have not dealt with the company yet) http://www.fibreglast.com/product/696/Kevlar wrote:Image
Resists Impact for Parts and Tubes
2", 9.9 oz/sq yd, 0.018" thick

These KEVLAR® sleeves are highly impact and abrasion resistant. They can be slid over a prepared mandrel or cylinder to create straight or tapered tubing. In addition, braided sleeves will completely conform to the shape of products with changing geometries like prosthetics and hockey sticks, improving overall performance, minimizing weight, and maximizing strength.

The sleeves can be increased from their base diameter up to 30% and decreased up to 70%. This means that our 2" sleeve can be used in a single application ranging from 0.6" to 2.6" in diameter.

When inflated, braided reinforcement works much like a shark's body, orienting itself to the direction of force. This actually strengthens its outer skin, enabling it to withstand pressure and carry load, and to tolerate damage and fatigue. If a puncture does occur, the sleeve provides a slow, controlled failure, rather than a more damaging and potentially dangerous blowup.

Joy Frame
Version Dec. 23, 2914
The two rear legs leave more room for the pilot's leg to be placed left or right.
The front two legs are compound shaped to provide hand hold, upper-arm-should control bracing against a couple of positions of hand hold; plus the compound shape in lower sector allows wide contact feet.
Both front-leg set and rear-leg set are shaped to give wide feet as well as some spring or damping shape.
No Rights Reserved.
~Joe Faust

PS: Secondary field use of the Joy Frame could be a tent for naps between wing-running sessions or ground-effect ground skimming or hang gliding.

What in some splat incidents turned out to have one say: "That was not a safe splat !"
Learning from unsafe splats is the target here. Analyze splats that ended in injury or worse; look for what could have been different. Search for how to tweak the scene toward Safe-Splat realm.

http://www.hgfa.asn.au/skysailor/e-issues/SkySailor%202014-12.pdf (PDF)
Article in the PDF by Helen Ross-Lee is in focus at the moment. Helen elsewhere described her incident as a "freak accident." How "freak" when one looks closely? Has there been in hang gliding literature enough matter to have avoided the incident; veterans were near; what might have been missed?

================================

Does anyone have any comprehensive analysis of the Helen Ross-Lee incident? TIA.
She notes that the incident was during AT with a low-level lockout.
Part of honoring her will be to know the incident thoroughly and let such be a process of gifting avoidance of any similar incident.
Investing to operate and have means to stay whole would be a strong way to bless the future of hang gliders.
