This is what I'm talking about

As this writer describes how they have a history of working with BLM and Forest Service, know them on a first name basis, friends, etc, to protect and maintain access to these sites. This makes me question whether the BLM and Forest Service officials might also be USHPA volunteers, BOD, Exec.Dir. ???? Either way?
This seems to confirm what I have been saying, like recently, the new flying site in S. Oregon. In the pics there were 8 or 10 clearings for FL. Having recently been in that area, Oregon coast, I saw the same throughout. I suppose it was BLM, FS, or even just the lumber industry, either way it provides that area with all kinds of flying sites. That's great

But the areas in US that don't have BLM or Forest Service don't have that advantage.. Like in the loss of Packsaddle Mtn. in Reg11, it is privately owned and the County govt. halted road maintenance and left it up to the club members, it was unaffordable. That was an unusual situation, for our area, with the County having the communications tower on a hill that also made a decent FL. It sure was not a U.S. Govt. Agency building launch pads throughout the Tx. Hillcountry.
So after regularly getting requests to write letters, sign petitions, or make calls to save the BLM and Forest Service flying sites, I have mixed feelings.
Could the pilots from all over US been asked to write to some Govt. agency to save Packsaddle? No, because it was privately owned.
Again, I agree with the East Coast RD candidate, Terry, that "USHPA should be in the forefront of establishing flying sites across the U.S." Not just taking credit for establishing/saving sites that are actually provided by BLM/FS.
And World Records go overhead..............
