Check this out. http://www.paraglidingforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=p424019

There seems to be a growing concern about the concessionaire. Bob, maybe you could send this link to Mayor Falconer.

At the very least it substantiates your/our position on the subject.

With so many disgusted and actually abused there, PG too, maybe something will happen to correct the problem. I hope so.

And here's the running commentary so far:

Torrey Pines is a great place to paraglide, one of the best spots I've ever been to. However, the staff there has the worst attitude, you pretty much can't go there without some asshole from the Torrey Pines tandem or flight staff yelling at someone. Last time I was there some super emotional type named Jeremy (a tandem pilot) got upset at me because he said I was "flying his ridge". What does that even mean? Later he concocted some completely false tale that I was flying "dangerously" over the parking lot. Not only was I not flying over the parking lot, I wasn't flying any where close to that area (I never have). Seems like every time I go there to drop off my kit and start getting ready some dope starts yelling at me or other pilots to get out of the "pilot only" area. It's just ridiculous, the whole attitude of the staff there sucks, some are ok, but it seems like most just have the worst attitude. It's embarrassing that we have these kind of bad apples in the sport.

Another observation is that if you're a "local" you can break the very rules that they freak out and scream at "outsiders" over. I see locals breaking the touch a go rule constantly, I see locals flying over crowds as they come in for a landing. The whole thing is stupid with the bad attitude and the "this is my spot" attitude. It's really sad that such a great spot is ruined by such bad attitudes and emotional little men. I'm still going to fly the location, but I'm not taking any s*** off of any of you locals either. Jeremy belongs on "The Housewives of Torrey Pines", that guy is so emotional its simply ridiculous. Come on Torrey Pines, grow up!

For what it's worth I flew there twice, never again.

It's crazy right? I've flown all over, always make friends and love to share stories, etc. But Torrey Pines is just a disaster due to bad management and bad employees. It's sad too, because it's one of the best coastal ridge soaring spots in CA. I've always thought both HG and PG pilots where just overall a great group of folks.

I have met some awesome people at Torrey Pines, but the management and employees are just absolute junk. It's not just me either, I see them treating everyone like crap. It's an embarrassment to the sport actually.

Nice place to fly, but the f**king attitude of some people is very bad!

I think their comments are right on target, and I may add this to my next City Council presentation!!

Thanks Sam, and I hope you don't mind me dual-posting this topic to the Torrey Hawks forum. One of the great things about having a national forum with local chapters is that people from all over the country (all over the world?) can help clubs with local issues. Thanks for your "hawk eyes" on the subject of Torrey Pines!!
