Director Election Results

The election results are in; here are the USHPA Directors for the 2020-2021 term.
The election closed on October 28 at 5 pm MT. Thank you to everyone who voted in the board of directors election to fulfill the 10% quorum requirement. In total, 18% of members voted and the results are posted here. These directors will take office January 1, 2020, and serve through the end of 2021.

2019 Election Results

  1. Jugdeep Aggarwal
  2. Steve Pearson
  3. Kimberly Phinney
  4. Sara Weaver

Congratulations to our new directors, and thank you to all the candidates that ran for the board! We'd also like to sincerely thank our outgoing directors for all their time and work on the board. We encourage anyone interested in working with USHPA to volunteer on committees and to run for the board again.

The full 2020 board will consist of the following directors, plus an additional 2 directors that will be appointed by the new board per the bylaws at their first meeting in January:

  • Jugdeep Aggarwal
  • Ken Andrews
  • Alan Crouse
  • Mark Forbes
  • Kate Griffin
  • Mike Holmes
  • Doyle Johnson
  • Daniel Lukaszewicz
  • Steven Pearson
  • Kimberly Phinney
  • Randall Shane
  • Paul Voight
  • Sara Weaver

This was USHPA's first national election, and the first member election that used the diversity algorithm to determine the results. As the board decreases to 15 members in 2020 and 10 members in 2021, the algorithm seeks to ensure that directors continue to represent all regions and wing types, as well as a mix of ages and genders.

Tiki is out. Matt Taber is out. Mark Forbes is still in.

But Steve Pearson is a good sign.

On Oz:

Angelo wrote:Tuesday morning, I'm looking through my e-mails. I see something from USHPA from the day before. It was reminding me about the deadline to vote in the election. The deadline that was already the day before.

Election?! What election? I went back through the last few magazines. Since they're only every other month now, it's easy for me to miss something. Where there use to be candidate statements, nothing. Not a word.

I went back through my e-mails, which I get maybe 50-60 in a day. I figured there must be a USHPA post that I missed with all the election info. NOTHING. Finally, I see in one of the two USHPA posts I got in the last month, A post that's titled something about registering for the Board Meeting. I open it. First article, register for the Meeting. Second article, Magazine survey. Third article, buried at the bottom, some info about the election. Or, more accurately, where I can find more info, if I actually got that far in the post.

What kind of BS is this? I've been a member for over 30 years, the magazine always had announcements of elections, with candidate statements. It's bad enough we had this bogus re-organization rammed down our throats, now we have stealth elections?

Angelo should check with USHPA to find out who the "Elections Chairman" happens to be.

When I first ran for RD in 2008, USHPA included candidate statements in the magazine and also sent out at least 2 email messages with additional candidate statements. When I ran again a few years later, Mark Forbes (Elections Chairman) told me they weren't emailing candidate statements any more. None.

I think the evidence is quite clear that USHPA is not a member-oriented organization any more.

Frank

One way to dilute hierarchies of competence is to employ diversity algorithms.

Does anyone remember this from December 2017:

BobK,

You have deposed Mark Forbes. Matt Henzi has been elected into his seat.

https://www.ushpa.org/page/2018-regiona ... on-results

Ken Andrews has been reelected!

WOW!!!!!!!

That's BIG news.!!!!

USHPA wrote:Regional Director PLURALITY

NOT mumbo gumbo flatulence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1 vote (0.3%)
Tom Johns 1 vote (0.3%)
Mark Forbes (I) 135 votes (46.7%)
Matt Henzi 148 votes (51.2%)

Matt Henzi wins with 51.2% of the vote.

Thanks Doug!!!!!!!

So Forbes lost his Regional Director election to Matt Henzi less than 2 years ago. And Regional Directors are elected for 2 year terms. Yet where is Matt Henzi on the list of current Directors? And how did "Elections Chairman" Mark Forbes manage to stay in power?

This "diversity" matrix wasn't about "diversity" at all.
