I'm inspired to come up with some old school comfortable music for this history making flight video. Any suggestions? Your preflight and two step take off were something. I think that if your "tell tail" had not suited you, you would have backed off. I watched this video from my vantage point of well above 7,000 feet. Maybe now that you are qualified for thin air again and your knees have healed, you could come up and top land at my perch. Ha. Best training video for all ages. Bravo, and good choices for your support team .

Thank you Craig.

One thing you can't hear in the video is John Heiney asking "are you going"? When I replied "yes" that's when you see him drop both hands, to show he was clear, and I started moving forward. I distinctly remember that, because it was my moment of committing to launch. A big moment for me after 39 years with only some recent 25 foot launches at Dockweiler.

I suppose my whitewater rafting over the past 43 years had prepared me for that decision. After scouting a big rapid, there is the moment where, back in the raft, I push off from shore and the river current starts to take hold on the boat and I'm fully committed to run the maelstrom below. This is the first time I have made that mental connection in those two actions but it makes sense.

Great talking with you on the phone yesterday.

My "old school" music suggestion will NOT be Wipeout!

It was a big moment for me too!

I got more excitement, enjoyment, and satisfaction from watching your one flight than from all of my flights put together.

Twenty years from now (if I live that long), your flight will be the one I remember most from that week in Utah. I was glad to be there!

Your "attention to detail" about your choice of equipment, set up, pre flight, wind conditions, and mental 'pictures', is where your confidence is. "Younger" pilots may have done these things 'quicker', but their confidence comes from good training given by you and many others, and when they step off, they are also fully committed. My dad taught me these concepts at an early age, and they all hold true in everyday life. Aviate, navigate , communicate.
Good show old boy....music to follow.
