Woopy and its Cousins and Mods

Postby JoeF » Mon Oct 24, 2022 1:37 pm

The forum has Woopy Fly notes here and there. This topic thread has an aim to deeply focus on the hang glider Woopy and its close cousins. One sub aim is to tiny pack a   Woopy   cousin and see how things can go for getting into the One-Meter Club of the "5-ft-or-less-pak HG Movement" or the "Busable HG Club." Woopy mods are welcome for the topic thread.
Woopy is a framed hang glider. Woopy cousins feature some active inflation fans.

Laurent de Kalbermatten
Cousins of Woopy have been motorized resulting in powered ultralight aircraft.

Switzerland is the wing’s homeland.

Some other spelling show up about the Woopy. One might find Whoopy. Woopy Fly. Woopee. Whoopee. Woopy Jump, Woopy-Fly.

The title of the video might be a bit confusing:
Woopy Fly TEST in NASA

WoopyFly Inflatable Wing Ultralight Aircraft

This video had 127 comments to date.
https://www.avweb.com/news/woopy-fly-inflatable-wing-aircraft/ wrote:According to enthusiasts, those scoops provide enough pressure to maintain the wing’s structure even if the material suffers a small puncture. Fully inflated, the wing spans 31 feet and weighs 35 pounds. The manufacturers, which go by the same name — Woopy-Fly — claim that when broken down, the vehicle is transportable in a normal automobile and launchable from your local cow pasture.

Somewhat related is the video that tracks some history of inflatable aircraft:
What Happened To The Inflatable Self-Rescue Plane

Note: Airmat was mentioned in the narration over one of the developments.

An inflatable Wing. I must say that is an example of Someone who was thinking: "Outside The Box" Good on You.
