Scott Wise brought a Comet from New York for the Otto 45. Designer of the Comet, a VERY key historic HG, Roy Haggard, assisted Sunday with the tensioning step in the high wind; what a neat historic moment!

Scott is on the board of directors of US Hawks. He wore the same hat literally at Otto Meet 44 last year. Thanks, Scott, for the many things you have been doing for recreational hang gliding :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:

As we turn toward thinking of the upcoming Otto Meet, it's nice to remember all the pleasant things that happened at past meets. Thanks for this contribution to those memories Joe!!

So I am putting this response up being that what I will say is only the way I see it, it might be a wee bit Off Subject. The off Subject is the Non Flying part of what I will be saying about how I do hope to be down South this May. Heck if I was a; "GOOD PILOT", I would just Fly My Predator down to Southern California. I can just see Myself as the Sun would get lower in the Sky. thus My-Our engine would be going AWOL for the night. Well I can just see Myself scanning the Horizon looking for a Mountain top to land. Then I would Break down My Predator, make Camp. Make Dinner go to sleep. get up in the Morning, make Myself some Breakfast. Then I would set-Up My predator, Launch, get Up, and Head back on My way Down South, I would repeat this process again and again. So once again; A "GOOD PILOT' Would fly down to Southern California requiring only one Day of Flying in order to Fly from Northern California to Southern California. But I am not a GOOD PILOT.

But i am not a "GOOD PILOT", I never have been, For that matter i most likely never will be a; "GOOD PILOT". So being that i lack the necessary Good Piloting Skills so that I could make the Trip down South in a proper way. That way would be to Fly My Predator down to Southern California. I will just need to drive myself and My Predator down to Southern California. Guys check this out; This Friday I will be at My local Antioch Kaiser Hospital being evaluated so that I can be deemed Capable enough so as to be able to drive down South. I will take the Behind the wheel Driving test at the DMV this Friday. the 23rd. See I already took and passed the written part of the Test. When, well if I get My Drivers License back, i will be just like a 16 Year old kid who just got His or Her License. I feel that way times Fifty!

You did veer a bit off topic ... but you brought it home in the end.

I was thinking, I was thinking about Flying. Heck what the else should I about> Well the Day will soon Be here when I will have the opportunity to Show that My Flying Skills have not waned since when I Pounded on March Twenty Eighth Two Thousand Ten. 3 - 28 - 2010 is a Day that will Go Down in Infamy for Me. I mean I May not remember any of My last Flight, But heck what an experience it has been for Me. I did find that having Crashed, and having recovered. Wel there is one thing that I have not Recovered. That is My weight. So really does Work; "THE POUND DIET". Yes if you want to loose say a 100 Pounds. You can simply go on the Pound Diet. As the saying Goes; "You can't argue with success. Under Two Hundred pounds is Great! But I do not think that My Going on the Pound Diet would be beneficial to Me. Because I do not think that with My Being a tad shorter than 6'4" I really do not think that My being sub One Hundred Pounds would be Health. But can You say Low Wing Loading? If I can get My Body weight down to 175, I will when Flying My 158 Predator, I will be flying at the same Wing loading as John when John Flys His 142 Predator.

So I guess if I am able to muster up the Discipline, and to work My Body hard. I might be able to stay under 200 Pounds. You see I bounce in weight from Just Below 200 Pounds to a little over 200 Pounds. My Goal, My end Goal is to weigh just One Hundred Seventy Five Pounds. Imagine that; Me the Former Big Guy in the Sky. Who on My last Flight I weighed 298 pounds. I am 6' 3" tall. Actually I am Six Feet THree and a Half inches tall. If I am able to get My Weight down to a Hundred Seventy Five Pounds. Then I will be asking John if He knows of anyone who Fly's a 142 Predator who would like to trade Up to a One Fifty Eight Predator. But in actuality; If MY Body weight get's to Normalize to be on a Day in, Day out basis being Sub Two Hundred Pounds. I sould find Myself a Baby Predator.

It would be so cool for Me to get My Tail Feathers down to Dockweiler, and then to Fly John's One Forty Two Predator. The way I see it I had some Truly kick-Ass XC Flights Flying My 158 Predator weighing just under 300 Pounds. So it stands to reason that I will some righteous XC flights Flying a 142 Predator. Well there is that caviatte. If I weigh under 200 Pounds.

LANDING:

Well Why I did indeed did not land so well once or twice. I mean it when I say one or Twice while Flying My Predator 158. Yes there is a Video of My sliding in on My Belly up at Lake McClure. There I was; "Late to the Dance" as in not being at all ready to Flair. In the Video Clip. I am still Prone. with My Long Arms outstretched sliding to a Stop. But I did not WHACK! Whacking a glider is a Rude thing to do to a Glider.

Ok Bob, I know that I got off Subject a little. For I talked about a Wrong, Unsafe type of Flying. That I used the two letter Cuss Word XC. Yes I talked about Flying Cross Country. Worse than That i realize that This Site is "YOUR SITE". I must be wary of getting of subject. Really though I am not that far off Subject really. For I want to Begin a Cross Country Flight by Launching at Dockweiler then Flying to Torrey and land. It is gust Like Annita B once said; "A Day without XC is like a Day Without Sunshine"
