"brain fog" from other stuff too, seems to be it.
I've found these to be very helpful

if your mom would adapt to one of these it may help her "hear" better and more clearer. and if she wants, put ear plugs in for awhile and experiment. Being "paired up" to my phone, and hands, free to do whatever they like, just builds confidence.
Bone conduction is just another way to perceive sound.
It may be all about the hands and keeping them in shape. little bags to squeeze helps.
Crazy thought, bring your acoustic guitar in and let her hands touch it while you are playing it. bone conduction is amazing.

Last week marks 3 years since the deaths of Glenn Bengtsson and Raul Valerio. As far as I can tell, nothing has changed at Torrey that would keep that accident from repeating tomorrow. There is still no oversight by the City of San Diego or any other organization with teeth. U$HPA continues its retaliation against any expert witness who testifies against the Torrey business.

From Mar 13th, 2019 at 8:22 pm in this topic:

Bill Cummings wrote:Having first hand knowledge about the military and paragliding connection it wouldn't surprise me one bit to find that San Diego, the Torrey concessionaire, and the military have a sweetheart training arrangement. It would explain away Robin M, council woman Bry, and the entire City council's aloofness and contempt for the public's legitimate call for oversight.
But in the interest of public safety the concessionaire should be stripped of any training of the recreational public.
Fairness for access has been lost for the foreseeable future at the Torrey flight park so the best way to stop the death cycle is to protect the public from this concessionaire by any means possible.

This was a particularly important post. Thanks Bill.   :salute:

I just happened across this video from 10 News:

It's obviously been available for quite some time, but I didn't happen to find it until just this evening.

{KNOW THY RIGHT - OF - WAY RULES}.

I have never been to Torrey Pines. So, I have been Reading about all-too-common Events of Gliders having Mid-Airs. It makes Me wonder that if these Pilots do not Truly have an understanding of Right of Way rules. Then Why are They Flying a Crowded Costal Ridge Soaring site? A Pilots knowledge of Right away rules is a fundamental aspect of Flying. Did theses Pilots Who caused Their Accidents to happen, Did They not have an understanding of the Basic rules of Flight? I mean it is quite Simple when Fly. When a Conflict develops in The Air, You Break right. If and quite Possibly when I will be Flying at a Congested Ridge Soaring site such as Torrey Pines. My Head will be on a Swivel.

Factions of Ushawks are looking at having the 6 year zero death rate Air California Adventure take over the USHPA with our full support and with support of San Diego city Councile, Karen Bass and Gavin Newsome, not to mention 2028 US president Justin Trudeau who it was agreed after annexation he would be elected inorder to facilitate orderly assimilation.
To celebrate we will allow a BobK date where he is allowed to fly the site. The Us is looking to be admitted to the British Commonwealth which allows aluminium to be accessed at lowcost for hang gliders.

What factions? Can you give some names?

Where are their death rates (and accident rates) published? How do you know what they are?

Who does "our" refer to?

Good morning, Bob:

Bob, you know reading this Thread about Pilots having a Mid-Ai0r, this has Me thinking about How I might very well encounter a situation where when I am Flying again. That a Potentially dangerous encounter might Occur. For I could be Flying at a local Flying site. When a Pilot does something that is done many times each Year. Yes, a Pilot for whatever reason Fails to: {Clear His, or Hers Turn} Then ends up turning directly into me. The thought oof this scenario happening to Me will and always has caused My Head to be on a Swivel. {Know Thy Right of Way Rules}

This potentially Deadly scenario is not limited to US. Think about that recent deadly encounter between a Helicopter and an Airliner back East on a Mood lite night. Those Aircraft were lite up Like Christmas Trees. A little bit of understanding and observing using Rite Away Rules Would have gone a long way that Night.

Grok response:
Recent Incidents: A Reddit post from June 15, 2024, mentioned an emergency response at the Gliderport on June 13, 2024, involving fire department workers rappelling down the cliffs and an ambulance taking someone away. It’s unclear if this was a paragliding-related incident or a fatality, as no follow-up confirmation exists in the available data. It could have been a hiker or unrelated cliff incident, which are also common in the area.

After deep Search...
Confirming findings

No new fatalities appear from 2020 to 2025 after reviewing all searches. I'm confident the 2019 incident is the only one in the timeframe.

No new statements can be extracted from the provided trace.

Two factions on paraglider tariffs, is a 10% to 45% tariff on paraglidres too high? or too low?

Grok:
Estimated Range: After April 2, 2025, tariffs on paragliders could range from 10-20% (if a broad additional tariff applies) to 20-45% (if reciprocal rates reflect higher foreign duties or VAT). For Vietnam, a plausible estimate is 15-25%, balancing its trade surplus with the U.S. and typical tariff structures. These figures are provisional, as final rates hinge on policy specifics not yet released. For precise updates, monitor USTR announcements closer to April 1, 2025.
