Just noticed my time stamp was not MDST

Postby Bill Cummings » Sat Mar 28, 2015 9:54 pm

Just noticed my time stamp was not MDST and reset it.
I went to "User Control Panel"
next I clicked the "Board preferences" button.
Then daylight savings button.

Time has always been a little screwy on this forum. I believe the post times are stored internally as GMT, but they're displayed differently to each member based on what it thinks you want to see.

All righty then now!
I’ll make a post to my self here and see if my time stamp agrees with my local time ----- here.
At the “enter,” button the time here was 13:16 hours or 1:16 pm.
Then I’ll edit to say if I was on time.
EDIT:
Well it came out right on my computer and now I'll hit enter for the edit at 13:18
Second EDIT:
I see that the first post time remained even for the edit.

Where I am it says you posted at 2:16 pm. That makes me think you are located east of the US Eastern Time Zone?

Gee now I have to see what MY time posting time reads! lol

EDIT - I must need to reset the forum's clock to Day Light Saving Time cause it says my post (send a few moments ago) was made an hour ago. Yippeee!

2nd EDIT - Things look correct now!

From my location (on the left coast), Bill's post shows a time of 12:16 and Scott's post shows a time of 12:32 (and this post was made at 12:48). I think that supports the conjecture that the forum translates the actual time of each post into the viewer's local time zone (assuming your forum settings are correctly telling the forum what time zone you're using). The actual time stored in the database is probably GMT, but it could be any other time (like local server time) as long as the server knows what it is.

Bill, I just realized that when you post in Mountain Time (Right?) it is 2 hours later than my time. As in, if you post at 1 pm your time, it is 3 pm here on the east coast. BUT(!) that makes it SEEM (by my time setting here on the forum) as if you are to the east of me where the time is later in the day! Get it? . . . . Again - . . :wtf: . . :eh: . .

PS - This could be good. Maybe you aren't floating in the Atlantic but actually in Bermuda? Is the sun nice and warm there?

Bob,

I think you have to reset your own forum clock to Day Light Saving Time! 'Cause you should be an hour earlier (posting time) if Bill is one time zone east of you, RIGHT?

:srofl: But really, . . . I think I'm correct.
