Nesting forms

Nesting forms? Concerned about volume of the pack?

Notice that cross-section angles nest for transport. L
But notice also that Zee cross-section beams also nest for transport. Z
Telescopic ring cross-section form a kind of nesting, but then gross forms no not nest.
Coilable flats that are pre-stressed to become circular arc in cross section will nest coiled; but coils do not grossly nest.
Flats nest; flats then might assemble into integrated forms.

Examine all the technologies and possibilities; bring the best forward for examination.

Starting:
1. Bring forward all the various options from the hybrid inflatable worlds.
2. Examine splinted bladdered encased spars.
3. Explore foldable pre-stressed shells set in pack in accordion means.
4. Combine technologies where needed.
5. Explore deployable spars.
6. Examine soft-cabling options.
7. Explore all the other hang gliding forums for sharings on the Movement.
8. Respect niche HG activity; that is, one size need not fit all. Specialize designs to meet the niche activity.
9. Be ready to alter the Movement to "5-ft-pack-or-shorter HG Movement".
10. Get architects and engineers interested in the Movement. And artists.
11. Consider Safe-Splat and also High-Hat enhancements all in the same pack.
12. Trust that ways will be found and developed that will bring forward very low-volume low-mass convenient quickly-assembled and quickly packed HGs. The adventure during fulfilling such trust may be choice and wondrous. Be a part of this Movement.

..... There are many more seed starting points; bring those in. Then All are invited to forward the matter to many optional completions. Ask questions. Wonder. Imagine. Dare. Experiment. Test. Model. Put up prizes. Challenge masters students. Make this a world Movement.

1. From 5-ft pack:
Uncoil main spar; sock it; insert ribs, HH, TCF, SS; inflate; wire it.

2. Check (wing, self, people, animals, properties, wind, environment, risks, incline, airspace, traffic, animals, flight plan). Decide.

3. Hook in; check; run, fly, land, rejoice, review, journal, celebrate, thank. Repeat.

there is an FAA recommendation: self regulate to fly safely in ways to avoid injuring other people, properties, and other aircraft.

New, carbon-fiber masts use the same proven structural design as the previous masts—continuous, coilable, longerons running the complete length of the mast. These longerons can be coiled and stowed in less than 1% of their deployed length, making a compact package for launch. The mast is self-deployed, using the strain energy stored in the coiled and stowed longerons. A lanyard controls the rate of deployment. The mass of the carbon-fiber structure is less than 35 grams / meter when deployed.


Structure of mast uses carbon fiber longerons and battens, and strong, flexible thread diagonals to balance tension and provide stiffness.
The mast design consists of three continuous, carbon-fiber longerons forming an equilateral triangular section and kept apart by small structural elements called �battens," which retain a preload when deployed. �Diagonals� are small structural elements that connect diagonally opposite batten connections to provide shear stiffness for maintaining the straightness of the mast. The combination of battens and diagonals is a design element repeated regularly along the length of the mast, each element forming a �bay." The diagonals are of a length that buckles the battens, thus maintaining tension in the diagonals and providing stiffness.

This ultra lightweight graphite coilable mast is of a slenderness far beyond that of any other structure previously flown, and providing an advance beyond the current technology of deployable structures in addition to its low mass per unit length for a given stiffness. This structure is being developed for near-term use as a solar sail mast, but it is also applicable to many lighter booms that stow compactly that will be needed in the future. This new technology will be broadly enabling to future gossamer spacecraft missions, just as the coilable fiberglass boom structure has been employed in many past and ongoing missions.

Consider some labor at HG site after tote:
Consider longerons individually coiled for tote. Then manually connect battens and diagonals (per nomenclature of the JPL Sailmast); detail connecting is not right here resolved. :|
Add ribs (outward ribs canted for increasing hypotenuse tensioning of TE of wing's sock); add Mylar D shaper on base of one side of the Sailmast trussed boom. Sock it. Fly HG. :?: :idea:

"Favoring for spar: coilable shelling with interior separate air-pressured bladder; shelling coils shortwise for tote and longwish for deployed spar; hooping staying of shelling obtained by hole-hooking or snap clasps or occasional web hoops or some other means, perhaps outer case fabric tube .... Shelling would give compressive-element play; compressive element rods may then not be needed. "

Or competing: Bond four compressive longerons to porous fabric case; have interior air-pressurized bladder. Standoff ribs, some canted. Have left spar and right spar: depend on post rigging. Zipper the two socks. 15 ft left, 15 ft right. Zipper closure. Coil case; tote around torso is option; bladders could coil wrap on the base torso wrap; or bladder coils might wrap around pilot's legs above ankles. Wing socks could wrap the torso coil or could fold into selves and become gear bags as luggage; or become neck coiled globs or perhaps wrap around thighs or become a hat. Wearable HG parts! Or all-luggage-tote method.
