2ND TIME IS THE CHARM?:


Well I am typing this now 8-15-2021 12:45 PM. Because the post that I was just 10 minutes ago vanished. I hope that the same way my other Post met it's demise will not happen to this Post. I must have accidently hit the wrong Key.

So what I want to say is to give al of you a brief overview of who I am, and what befell me on Sunday March 28th 2010. I was on a flight where I was going XC that Day. I was only about I do not really know How Far it was, it was inly 10 maybe 15 Miles away from Lunch. Well I do not know how strong the Wind was blowing. But I have heard reports if Wind Strength that Day developing up into the 30 Mile an Hour Range. But ion the Other Hand Pilot-X who had decided to not Head out XC. X simply Flew a
Sled-Ride Ride to the "Lime-Ridge" L-Z. X reported to Me that He did see the Wind strength that I am describing to You Guys.

OK We have come to the conclusion that Due to High winds. The field tat I had chosen to land in had Up-Wind of the Field An Eueptilliptes Tree Line that Produced a Wind Rotor caused My near Demise. Let Me say this was a Crash that should have ended My life. In Fact Pilot-X Who was one of the First to come to the Hospital. was told; "To tell my Family to get things into order, for I would not Survive" So My journey back to a Physical recovery had begun. I am so fortunate that some of my Doctors were did such a poor job speculating as to my impending demise. But it was one Heck of a Ride! I spent Three Months in a coma. Check this out; Responding to My Sister Kathleen's Plea that a MRI be performed on My left Shoulder. My Doctor, Doctor SOB, said to My Sister Kathleen; "Why bother You can't5 have an conversation with a Potato." There are a couple more examples of what I have gone through. But I have mentioned the Lowest of the Low Points


MY HIGH POINTS:

Well This Human Potato, is able to Think, Play Chess. walk, and Talk. Here is a very Positive Note. My Sister was so there for Me. I simply love My Sister Kathleen. Kathleen has been there with me through My lowest of Low's. She really is the Best, the Finest Sister that I have ever seen.

Hi Everyone:

Well first off let Me say thank you for tolerating My Brain injured Blathering regarding my posting talking about How I have every intention of returning to Flying. Thank You so very Much. I have experienced some real Negative responses to My Blathering, My pontificating about how I plan on getting to the place in My Life where I will be legally allowed to drive again. I was telling this to a Flying Friend the other Day. Well I was talking about How I planned on Driving again. I want to load My Glider and then Drive to Southern California and that I want to Fly this Guys Frank, I will Fly Franks Condor. Well My Friend said to Me "I do Not want to hear what You are going to do." Then there was nothing, the phone went Dead. That being Hung up while I had just told of My plans to fully recover and to Fly again, This Stung.

It is like when I went over to my local Music store, Gills Music. I told the fellow Who helped Me buy Couple of tuning knobs for My Gibson SG. By the way I also asked about getting some one to come over to My House to Help Me Hook up my Alisis that Hooks into My Marshal 2000 Triple Lead 100 Watt Amplifier.
The Alisis is a Pretty Cool piece of electronics. An Alisis allows you to get the Tone You desire, without Blowing Your Neighbors Windows out of their House if You were to Play through Your Amp sans the Alisis.
Playing the Guitar for Me really comes down to spending so much time Playing. It is akin to How one becomes a good HG Pilot. You Fly, You Fly, You Fly, You Fly, and then You think about Your Flights. And You think a lot regarding what you are doing. Playing Music is so good for a Persons Brain, well it has helped me regain My Brains ability to work out Problems. It is pretty much noteworthy to Me anyways. But Three or Four Years after I pounded I could Not Form a Chord with My Left Hand. Currently it now has been 11 Years since I pounded my Body into the Ground. Today I am able to Play better than Before I crashed My Predator.

I am prgressing quite nicely. For I am going through the Process of reclaiming my Health. Yes I do things that Help Me regain my Mental and Physical abilities. I play My Guitar. I work on Projects around the House. I prune Trees I my Yard. I type as I am doing rite now. It seems, no make that; "It is the Case that the More that I Do, then I am able to do More". I was talking to a Flying friend of mine one Day. Well Steve said to Me; "Chris being that You crashed so severely. What does that say about the rest of us? For You could Fly!" Yes I could indeed Fly quite well. Yet, I almost flunked My; "Reality check" Yes March 28th 2010 was a case of almost more reality than I could deal with.

That I waste your Guys time by talking about all this Trauma and Drama. I have my eyes set upon my Future. It is beginning to look like I will Have a Date with a Condor that I will fly at Dockweiler Beach. Well if I Flew today. It will have been 11 Years 4 Months 22 Days since I flew My Beloved Predator. yes I have My Head up on My shoulders looking up towards the Sky. After all, the Sky is where my Home is, my true Home that is.

Chris, somewhere on the HAWKS I posted where I had my bell rung crashing, bouncing, in a frozen bean field near Eau Clair Wisconsin. The next injury to my head was a heart attack in 2000. For a while in the ambulance I couldn’t decipher spoken English (yet I remember thinking the guy was asking me something about numbers and pain but I’m not going to take a math test on my death bed.) I also remember wondering if someone would tell my wife before I died and then realizing I couldn’t remember her name.
So things were forgotten from the crash and next the heart attack. Memories are still missing.
Make sure before you take to the air at the beach that someone asks you questions about what actions you will take if different situations arise.

Hey Check these lines from the Note-Book My sister started after my brutal crash on March 28th @010.

April 15th @010:

"Chris was able to move all Fingers on Right Hand by Request" Big Thumbs up by request". I used the Thumbs up gestor to respond yes to a given Question.

It is amazing, amazing tome anyways that I have been able to regain my Bodies anility to function. I also have no doubt that I have the Best Sister that I ever could of hopped for.

I read in the note Book Kathleen saying: "Chris cannot go to Floor 3 because He can not push button when in distress".

To say that I was a mess would be an understatement. Three Months, Three Months I was in a Comma.

Ireally do feel that as a Person. That I benefitted from My Accident. For I so appreciate the Mundane things that we all take for Granted each Day. When I talk to someone on the Phone, and the Person can understand Me, this is great! Or how I can now walk. I do Yard work. I am able to bend over and pull weeds. I can now even run. I no longer fall Down.

Yes the way I see this experience getting so close to Death, and then returning to a somewhat state of Normalcy. I am so Blessed.

Chris, I am so proud that the U.S. Hawks provides a forum that gives you the ability to share your thoughts and your experiences. Jack banned one of the great pilots and great human beings in hang gliding. I thank all of our U.S. Hawks members and all of our U.S. Hawks Board members for contributing to keeping this forum alive.

If giving you a forum, Chris, was the only thing the U.S. Hawks ever accomplished, it would be worth all the effort. Thanks for that gift ... to us.
