The best tools for the job at a great price. The carbon fiber, s-glass, and polymers of the Altius Carbon Elite make this pole one of the most dependable and dynamic poles available. The addition of high-quality carbon fiber in conjunction with S-glass fiberglass enables the reduction of carrying weight and pole diameter while maintaining and improving the structural integrity of the pole.

Note: The user of this pole assumes ALL risks and assumes sole responsibility for the care and handling of the pole. Altius makes NO WARRANTY regarding the pole after it has been placed into use and does not and cannot guarantee that injury to the user will not occur.

If Joe Greblo can create the WillsWing Alpha then he can help create the telescopic hang glider.

The Powerfoil 7.0 is optimized for power and weight savings. The Powerfoil is intended for light winds, sticky surfaces and/or heavier sailors who desire more lift. The Powerfoil can be tuned from full to flat. It works on any surface and can fly its own weight in a very light breeze.

The Powerfoil frame utilizes stiff, lightweight carbon-fiber front tubes with the same aluminum boom and Y-tubes that are standard on the other frames. It has a longer Y-tube and a boom extension at the nose joint.

The Powerfoil sail is built at Ezzy Sails from the same 'scrim' used to construct the 5.5 Full and 5.5 Speed sails. The fabric is closely-woven polyester and X-ply laminated on both sides with clear film, yielding a result that is lighter than monofilm. The sail includes Dacron® luff sleeves with Cordura® reinforced openings and chafe points, cam-lock tip tensioners, a two-position reflex tensioner, and a leach strap.

Total weight of the wing is 15.6 lbs. (7.07 kg).

The site Kitewing uses "hang glider":
What is Kitewing ?
Kitewing is a personal hand held wing that allows the user to play in the confluence of solid ground and moving air. Call it wind powered recreating! Most commonly used with skates or skis , but not limited to any other low friction devices.

Why me?
If you are a skier or skater, you can double your fun by using the wind as a tool for recreating. Kitewing is your gateway to a whole new realm of fun.

How does it work?
In a few minutes , the Kitewing sets up into a sail that resembles a hang glider. It floats on moving air, and deftly balances in the hand. Holding the wind in your hands, you control speed and power.

How does Little Hawk by Bob Kuczewski compare with the Powerfoil 6.0 or 7.0 ??? And could a Kitewing 6.0 or 7.0 be modified for a running-wing TCF (triangle control framed) demo hang glider???

A general concept toward solutions of happy-packing HG designs:
"separate tension from compression" for main spar? This is being explored. Indeed it has been explored some in the tensegrity inflated spars in this topic thread, but now the matter is being explored more deeply with truss mods. Curved compression element, webbing tension element, surround tension, rigid foam standoffs perhaps integrated with CFRP rods, ... And will explore non-rigid ribbing in DS in combination with sail tensioning via lines from compressed keel-empennage..... Time will tell. Adventures unfolding!

...continuing former post:
And in this topic thread we have also some exploration of a separation of tension from compression when dancing with splinted airbeams with wrap cables where the splint is the compression member and the wrapping cables are tension members; the two are bulkheaded by the airbeam.
But an area not so explored regards curve compression members bowstringed and resisted by a tension member separated from the compression member by segmented blocks, bulkheads, rods in a manner that mimics some kinds of trusses. There is some opportunity to enlarging section for resisting buckling, potentially given an chance to make sail taut via use of keel as anchor for after pulls tempting non-traditional ribbing tactics.
Will the adventure posit some HG designs open to happy packing? :?:

Toward a happy-packable HG:
A, US, LS, W, B, C : applique, upper sail, lower sail, webbing, blocks, compression member:: up front stack. W in tension along with TE line and keel-anchored aft pulls for a tauting-sails system. A (LE applique) can be low mass using some of many options.

Did you mean: wrong forum and no time to explain however. Steve Murillo has been elected as president to shga and he is via military chain of command subservient to dhmartens who is subservient to Joe Greblo.

Was short on time and order was questioned; explanation eventually; I did not want to lose note. Right topic thread.
=====================================================================================================
In this final day of 2023, waking "solution" will be shared here below. The part just might lead to a neat solution to a tiny happy packing of some HGs. First trial name: "SNS" for "strung nestable standoffs." The SNS become part of a specialized spar made of other parts: compression beam, SNS, tension webbing, compressible foam filler LE. The SNS is to have rigid standoffs of generally WW cross section; the "strung" aspect will be a low-mass fabric to be tensed at expansion spanwise while the two runs of fabric go spanwise. For tote, the SNS collapses to a stack of standoffs while the two runs of stringing fabric accordion stack during the nesting action while staying integral with the WW standoffs. The SNS at tote is fully separate from the tension webbing and from the compression member. The LE compressible foam is toted as a separate part and perhaps in a compressed form to be self-expanding at wing assembly. The SNS arrived at waking this morning, Dec. 31, 2023. The WW shape standoffs serve as compression items compressed between a spanwise tension webbing and spanwise compression beam. The complex spar may allow some quite tiny happy packings. Torsion remains a challenge and will be faced in various ways.

Happy New Year: SNS is offered to the world .... with hopes of providing some neat HG solutions per the spirit of this topic thread in US Hawks Forum. :salute:

I prompted ChatGPT3.5 with the original above text; Chat wrote out the following which embodies some "off" tweaks, but overall a smooth ride:
On this final day of 2023, we are excited to share a groundbreaking solution tailor-made for hang gliders – the "Strung Nestable Standoffs" or SNS. This innovative concept, freshly conceived this morning, holds the promise of revolutionizing the way hang gliders are packed and transported.

The SNS is a crucial component of a specialized spar, seamlessly integrating with other elements such as the compression beam, tension webbing, and a compressible foam filler leading edge (LE). Its nomenclature is derived from the rigid standoffs designed with a generally wing-like cross-section, ensuring structural integrity.

What sets the SNS apart is its ingenious "strung" feature, where a low-mass fabric is employed for tensioning in the expansion spanwise. Two runs of this fabric extend spanwise, allowing for a compact yet resilient packing solution. When collapsed for transport, the SNS neatly condenses into a stack of standoffs, while the stringing fabric accordion-stacks, maintaining its integration with the wing-like standoffs.

Importantly, the SNS is entirely independent during tote, separate from both the tension webbing and compression member. The compressible foam for the leading edge is also designed as a distinct component, potentially arriving in a compressed form to self-expand during wing assembly.

The unique configuration of the SNS, with its wing-shaped standoffs sandwiched between spanwise tension webbing and a compression beam, presents a complex yet efficient spar. This complexity opens the door to remarkably compact packing solutions, exemplifying the tiny happy packings sought by hang gliding enthusiasts. While challenges, particularly in torsion, lie ahead, the SNS marks a significant step toward overcoming them.

As we bid farewell to 2023, we extend our warmest wishes for a Happy New Year. May the SNS be a beacon of innovation, offering hang gliding enthusiasts around the world new and exciting solutions. We proudly present the SNS to the community with the hope that it will contribute to the spirit of exploration and improvement, as celebrated on the US Hawks Forum. :salute:

In December 2021, Silent Arrow, an Irvine-based drone maker, received a $750,000 contract from the U.S. Air Force to develop cargo delivery drones for military and humanitarian purposes.
In December 2023, Silent Arrow announced that it has been selected by AFWERX for a SBIR contract to develop a long-range powered cargo drone. The funding will result in a scaled-up Silent Arrow with a propulsion system to carry 1,000 pounds of payload over 300 nautical miles.
