More "doublespeak" from Mark Forbes

I just saw this on the paragliding forum (since the Oz Report is now locked down):
The part that is particularly funny is Mark telling people not to "be shy about speaking up when you see something sketchy happen". I was a USHPA Regional Director when I saw lots of "sketchy" things happening at Torrey Pines (like paragliding students on radio crashing into parked hang gliders on the ground or other paragliding students in the air). Mark Forbes and USHPA did NOTHING.
Mark, we're NOT all in this together. You and your cronies are in this for yourselves. So don't pretend to be "Mr. Safety" when you've been looking the other way for years at all the atrocities committed at Torrey. Shame on you!!
By the way, anyone is welcome to post this response to the Oz Report. You don't have to agree with me to post it, and you're welcome to just say that you saw it posted on US Hawks and are curious about Mark's reply. It would be helpful to post a link to this topic with your post. Thanks.

http://ozreport.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27085&start=50You'll be pleased to know that the policy is being renewed through March 2013, at a higher premium than what we've paid in the past, but the same basic terms. The insurers were favorably impressed by our efforts on the risk management front, and if we can keep the claims rate down we should be in good shape. We may even be able to ratchet the premium back down after a couple of years of good experience.
We certainly didn't *want* to drop the insurance, but continuation requires having an insurer willing to back the risk. We still have that, and we will so long as we don't have a long run of bad claims. We need to remain diligent, and we all need to keep in mind that just because somebody else is willing to 'take a chance', doesn't mean it won't have consequences for all of us. Don't be shy about speaking up when you see something sketchy happen. It's natural to not want to be the guy who raises a stink when somebody's doing something risky and marginal, but consider what can happen if it goes wrong. We're all in this together, and we need to watch out for each other and the rest of the public to protect our sites and our sport.
