Ryan placed 9th. I believe it was his first comp. I appreciate his taking time to report the comp and really enjoyed reading his write-up in this month's magazine.

One of the things I like about the aticle is that these flights were Made in USA

Front cover and centerfold ....... Hang gliders....... How long has it been since that happened

On page 40, bottom picture, Linda Salamone, US Women's Champion. That caption is on page 41. Check it out. Linda ???????????

Her name is Linda Salamone. I think that's correct.

Somehow the caption reads Linda "Sackabologne". I didn't really want to repeat it.

I think there is an insider conflict here, and I remember reading, some time ago, where someone, uh, like Davis, called her "idiot", on the ozforum.

Anyone know any more info on this issue?

We had a nice Second Sunday. The winds weren't as strong as we'd like but Kenny flew, I flew, and Dave Beardslee flew. Dave also flew Margie's son Kevin tandem for almost an hour.

I don't know much about Linda Salamone, but that does sound like quite a slight. It's possible that it was approved by Linda (self deprecating humor?), but it's also possible that it was an immature "inside joke" that wasn't intended to be printed and wasn't properly reviewed before publication.

I've bumped into Nick Greece on several occasions, and he's never impressed me as being very mature. He came through David Jebb's paragliding school (I've heard he dated Jebb's daughter) and it shows. He may be good at manipulating text and images, but as a human being I've found him lacking. As with most of the other people in power at USHPA, he uses his position as editor to steer the organization in the direction he wants.

Anyway, that's my opinion of it. Thanks for catching that Sam, and please post here if you find out any more (like whether Linda felt that was appropriate or not).
