US Hawks Hang Gliding Association

Robynne did so much hang gliding (and other flying stuff) while in San Diego that it was hard to keep my pictures current!!

February 28th, 2013 - Dockweiler Beach with Greg DeWolf and "Uncle Ken" - These were Robynne's first hang gliding flights!!

Robynne's first hang gliding flights at Dockweiler were relatively tame compared to her first mountain flight at Crestline with Dave Beardslee on March 2nd, 2013. Yahoo!!!

After Crestline, it was back to hard work at the hang gliding training hill. These pictures are from Robynne's first training session with John Heiney on March 5th, 2013. The first few photos are from John's shop, and the rest are from the Spider Woods training hill.

On March 6th, 2013, Robynne got to fly at the world-famous Torrey Pines Gliderport with John Heiney.

On March 9th, Robynne explored the "more traditional" forms of flight at the San Diego Aerospace Museum at Gillespie field. Robynne was joined by life-long pilots Millie and Ken who started their own flying when they were Robynne's age.

On March 10th, 2013, Robynne joined other members of the Torrey Hawks Hang Gliding Club to celebrate our monthy "Second Sundays at Torrey" fly-in. The flying wasn't so great, but Robynne picked up plenty of pointers on how to ground handle a hang glider.

Robynne took her last hang gliding flight of the visit with Dave Beardslee at Lake Elsinore on March 12th, 2013. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten any pictures yet, but I'll post them as soon as I get then. Robynne also flew a tandem paragliding flight with Steve Stackable at some point during her visit, but I don't have any pictures from that flight yet either.

But one thing is for sure ... Robynne packed a whole lot of flying into her short visit to San Diego!!   

The recent video by Eric got me searching around for some of our U.S. Hawks and Torrey Hawks outreach efforts. This is another example where we rolled out the red (flying) carpet for Robynne.
